You would think that instead of making a big hoopla, if someone in the press really wanted to help, rather than report a story to get ratings, they would just have used their own credit card to buy the woman the ipad and have the woman pay them back. But I guess that's too complicated for today's press. Instead she now has "to wait for apple to take cash for her ipad." Really? Whatever happened to common sense.

But if the reporter prevents the man from biting the dog, he has no story.

The narrator in the video sounds ridiculous.

Anyways, it's sad that the lady had a hard time, but still... she can't really use an iPad without a computer anyway. Someone needs to explain this to the poor woman before she spends a lot of money on something she won't be able to use.

Maybe Apple will step up to the plate now and supply her with a bunch of Apple products (iPad, iPhone, iMac) a $1000.00 credit for the Apps store and pay for her internet access for life.

This would be great P.R. for them.

Can it happen?

She got the policy changed and a free iPad. Wow

Yep, Apple took a PR nightmare, turned it into a feel-good story, and probably made a customer-for-life out of this woman. How many companies in their position would be savvy enough to do the same?

Also, I'm guessing that they realize with the international release date so close, there isn't as much need to have this policy in place any longer.

Man, cruel crowd. And all recorded for posterity, too.

Most of the posters in this thread criticized the woman and claimed that the no-cash policy was the correct one.

Wonder how many are still willing to stick with their previous view, and go on record now as criticizing Apple for changing their policy?

I was critical of the woman for whining to the media when something didn't go her way, and I was supportive of the policy that Apple had in place at the time, just as I am supportive of their changing the policy when they felt like changing it. I'm just a crazy supporter of capitalism and free enterprise that way. And the money piling up in my investment account since 1999, thanks to how Steve Jobs has decided to conduct business at Apple, says that my trust is well-placed.

Shame on Apple for the no cash policy. I'm glad SJ changed the policy, finally. If they do this again I'll vote with my wallet and purchase another phone other than the iPhone.
