Security at work was very interested in it... as they confiscated the phone for the day :(

I wish there was a version without the camera...

I try to keep a low profile when I'm out and about. I didn't buy the thing for attention.

My iPhone has gotten attention just about every time I have used it in public. Last week at Joe's Crab Shack, our waiter called everyone over to check it out, then sat down next to me like a long lost friend for a demo. Most recently, at Beyond Bread, a guy asked me how I liked my iPhone, and then started talking to his buddy about how awesome it was.

"You would have an iPhone...................."

I get that from all my friends and family.

But so far I have been getting mixed results, I found there are alot of people are afraid to hold it and are they act like they are holding a bar of soap in a prison shower.

But I was at sea world and the mall and every time I took it out people would glance then look back again and whisper extremely loud "ohh its a iPhone", "that guy has a iPhone", "hey look its a iPhone", "dont stare but that guy has a iPhone", and other similar responses you would expect people to say when they think they see a movie star but they arnt sure if its really them. Most of the time its fallowed by "rabble rabble IPHONE rabble rabble rabble".

Yeah, same here. No one has approached me and flat out asked to see it, but I've heard people talk in fairly loud whispers to their friends about my iPhone. I'm sure they wanted me to come over and show it off, but unless they're a really attractive woman (lets hope my girlfriend doesn't read that) they're not getting anywhere near the thing. If some random stranger dropped it or scratched it somehow, I'd snap. Last thing I want is for someone to mess up my iPhone. If I do it, that's one thing, but if someone else does it... Lets just say I'd be very, very unhappy.

it depends where i am really. i live in new jersey and i've demo'd it pretty much every time i've gone out.

however, i live in an area where the average income is quite high (mine is not and i live in an apt) so everyone around here is pretty used to seeing an iphone. i went to a local deli of mine and there were 2 other guys with it. everyone's pretty much used to seeing an iphone.

i had class on monday and i finally got to really really use the ipod feature, and as i was walking, i saw a dude with the white headphones and as i looked closely there was the mic! we both looked at each other in that "yeah i got one too" kind of stare. haha

but besides that, i think i must've made at least 5 or 6 sales since owning it. i should get commission from apple.

and it's hit and miss with the ladies haha! no joke. but seriously, i asked this girl "oh, would you like to touch it?" and it didn't work out quite well.

aww shucks!

anyways, i just wanna say that i love docking my phone cuz it means taking it out of the incase jacket and holding it "naked". it feels friggin awesome

Either the people are openly interested in it, or they're secretly interested but can't get their hands on one so they insult it, basically reciting all the stupid bad points they hear on the news, then 5 minutes later ask to see it.

Jealousy, tisk tisk.

My favorite thing to do when someone asks to see it is to hit the unlock button so the screen says "slide to unlock" and hand it to them without saying anything. They'll stare at it for just a second like they're utterly confused. Then it will slowly dawn on them that they actually have to slide the virtual slider with their finger to unlock it. A hesitant finger moves towards the slider, unsure if thats the right thing to do. They slide their finger across, and as if by magic, the slider moves with their finger and the phone unlocks. "Woah, cool!" :D

hahahahaha, that is genius.....it's like expose on a mac, you quickly open some movie files and play them and then your just like "now just squeeze the mouse.....thats right, just squeeze it"

Barbershop came to a halt...

I went to the barber this morning and while waiting I got an email alert. I pulled out the phone and responded to it and the guy next to me says,,,"is that the new Apple phone?" I said yes and everyone in the barbershop, including the three barbers, stopped and huddled around it like I had the magic answer to winning at the casinos. It was unreal...I had to do a full demo and Anita (the one who cuts my hair) said let me call you on my cell phone while you are looking at pictures and see what happens. It worked fine and they were all amazed by the quality of the images and UTube. All I heard was "I got to have one." :D:D

Something I often overhear from the ladies:

"Who is that smokin' hot guy with the iPhone?"

a couple of teen girls at Pacific Place Mall might have said the iPhone was the most useless device ever

yeah and why all those bags of clothes?

I usually hope that I'm not noticed with the iPhone. I don't like scenes or giving demos to strangers.

Yesterday I was in a meeting with a tech support contact from another company we deal with at work. I got a message so I checked it quickly and when she saw the phone she said "is that the iPhone?" I said yes. She replied "my boyfriend has been wanting one, how do you like it?"

I gave her a quick 2 minute demo and by the time I was done she said "I'm going to have to get one for myself."

This thing sells itself. Although during my demos I also mention the things that it doesn't excel at such as lack of MMS and the slow EDGE connection when wi-fi is not available.

I've been hit up a few times. Mind you, I don't declare that I am using one, I hide it in my hands as best I can, but people will still find it.

Some girl sitting behind me on the light rail on the way to Hoboken tapped me on the shoulder, asked me if it was an iPhone, and then sat next to me to talk about. She was cute, but not cute enough for me to let her play with it. Coincidentally, she missed her stop because of it and had to stay on the train to go back to her stop.

I got an email in the meeting I was taking the train to. Needless to say it was a big hit there and all the guys wanted one instead of the Blackberries they were using.

I went to a wedding over the weekend and it got passed around quite a bit. An aunt of mine had the most fun with it (thank you, iPhoto). Come to think of it, so did my mother. Baby pictures on an iPhone is clutch. :)

Best thing was the meeting in Hoboken. Some of the guys were literally giggly while playing with it (and these are guys that probably make way more than I ever will). I told him if you think tha tis fun, try using a Mac. Needless to say, he is buying one now. :)

I've had a few people come up to me and talk about it. At first I was confused -- a middle-aged guy came up to me and flat-out asked "how is it?" I was at Jerry's Dogs in Southern Ca, so at first I wasn't sure if he was talking about the food or not. Then it donned on me he meant the iPhone.

The funniest thing that happened to me was at the UTC mall in La Jolla, CA. I was leaving the mall and walking by a T-Mobile kiosk, and one of the workers held out a phone and said rather smugly, "want one?" I chuckled and began reaching into my pocket, and he asked, "what phone do you have?" So I pulled out my iPhone and showed it to him. He said, "Ohh, ohh, right on." And didn't say anything more. I jokingly replied, "sorry," and kept on walking.

I have another story but my Grandfather has a very bad memory and we think he may be getting Alzheimers but every time he sees me with it he is like "Wow did you get a new iPod (everything hand held is a iPod to him)" and I demo it to him. Sometimes he asks me if thats the phone that has been on TV, and I tell him yea. Its kinda Sad but I never tell him I already shown him a few times.

"Hey, that kid has got an iPhone!"

"Oh, you got an iPhone? How do you like it?"

I've generally mentioned the lack of MMS too, and to more technically oriented people, the lack of useful bluetooth and download/file management. I really don't understand some of these omissions and hope Apple fixes them soon...

i was at starbucks today getting coffee, and i was talking on my iphone, and i heard these girls behind me whisper, damn he has a PRADA phone. I wanted to turn around and slap them so bad... thats an insult...

Yesterday I finally saw an iPhone in the wild other than mine. The guy was doing the best he could to hide it while using it but I recognized the volume and ringer buttons sticking out of his hand. I didn't say anything.

I have been at a few family events and everyone who sees it wants to play with it, which is fine I don't mind letting family mess with it.

A few people have seen me in public messing with it and have asked me if they can play with it, but I politely tell them no. Most have understood, but there was one person who seemed a little mad, I guess he couldn't understand that I didn't want to hand ove a $500 dollar phone to a complete stranger.

I've actually been very protective and discreet with my iPhone...I don't want to be the kind of person who goes out and shows it off just to attract attention.

I mean if others want to attract attention, go nuts, but I'd rather just make people guess.

I have walked around with mine in my hand, but with the Incase Protector I don't think anyone knows what it is. So I haven't been bothered. But of course I also live in Fredericksburg VA so I imagine most people don't care about iPhones here.

iPhone ear buds

What I always look for when I'm on the subway are people with the iphone ear buds which are the same as the newer iPod headphones except they have the button/mic on the right wire. The other day I was listening to the ipod on my way home and saw someone else doing the same with the phone in his pocket. we just smiled and nodded to each other knowing that most ppl had no idea that we weren't listening on a normal iPod. :p

I'm very popular at work - I work at a .com company so most people are techy - but not many people have an iPhone. So when someone see's I got it - they are like whoa cool, you got one? Did you have to wait in line? etc.. Please that have never talked to me before!

Then I'll be like here you go - you can play w/ it.. trying to hand it to them, and then they just are like no no you can just show me, i don't want to break it. Most people are so afraid of breaking it. It's not THAT fragile! :p

Yea same thing with me, none of my family or friends want to touch it, I will hand it to them and they will look at it for like 3 secs and hand it back to me saying they don't want to break it. But then again I was the same when I was testing out a Apple employee's iPhone in line when it came out.

I've been pretty careful about where I use mine in public, but it IS fun to show it off, too! The other day a friend and I were in a pizza place and we were looking up something online and I guess one of us said the magic words, "iPhone." I didn't see, because my back was to the booth behind us, but my friend told me later that the people in that booth started craning their necks to see....

Yesterday, at another restaurant with another friend, I was using it when the waiter came by to check on us. He glanced at the iPhone, then looked again. I answered his unspoken question: "yep, it's the iPhone!" He was fascinated..... Next thing you know there are a couple more waiters there looking at it with great curiosity, too.....

People at work have been enjoying my demos of it as well. I'm getting a kick out of this whole experience!

Now I find myself looking at everyone else who is using a mobile phone to see if it is an iPhone.... :)
