Condensation in AirPods Max after long usage

So I’ve had my AirPods max for just under a week and have noticed that after prolonged usage there’s a decent amount of condensation inside the ear cup.

it’s quite noticeable when you detach the magnetic ear cushions from the ear cup.

anyone else have similar issues? And any ideas on what the impact might be?

That wouldn’t shock me since the entire cup is metal and the heat from our heads could cause condensation.

Seeing how the headphones are not water resistant, that doesn’t bode well for longevity of the headphones. The impact (over time) will probably lead to the headphones becoming distorted and possibly failing.

You’ll end up with the same problem people with condensation build up in the XM4s have. It will have an effect on ANC.

Thanks for y’all’s replies, totes makes sense, I guess just slightly concerned, and equally I hadn’t paid too much attention to this in my previous headphones as the cups weren’t removable and hadn’t noticed any issues so here’s to hoping this doesn’t end up being a massive oversight from Apple.

The workaround is to return them lol. Poor design. Bad value.

Its the same with all closed back headphones, but most people does not remove the cups to inspect and starts to yell in forums about that.

I was just thinking the same thing. I have had this problem with every set of over-the-ears cans ever. That’s why I don’t use them for very long and would never...ever...exercise with them.

Indoor usage and can’t say anything was too abnormal with the temperature.

I do tend to wear it for 5-6 hours in one go sometimes during work hours though.

Can confirm that I experienced condensation after several hours of use. Was sat down watching TV and or Youtube with them when I checked. Room temperature was normal.

Sometimes, during moment like this makes me glad that I am Deaf and I don't have to worry about wearing over-the-head headphones. But I shared these articles with my friends who aren't deaf anyways to give them a heads up.

I'd like to see inside other closed cup headphones after the same usage. But you can't. At least with the removable cups, if you discover some moisture you can wipe the majority away.

I can confirm I have the same issue and that it is also linked to the issue of the ANC failing and the wind noise. The drivers get wet and the noise starts up, ANC stops working and sometimes no sound comes out of either ear. A restart helps but this is extremely disappointing.

Also it’s disgusting how the fanboys are attacking people for reporting on this issue. I saw it on Reddit where people were saying those with the issue were making it up. Freaking pathetic.

Yup, after about 2 hours indoors with normal room temps, a small amount of visible moisture was present. I’m using Tidal master files, sound quality is great for a closed back wireless. However, the microphone had some static and tinniness, which I checked twice. I have a 2nd pair coming and I’ll see if the microphone issue gets resolved - build week 44 (November).

Note: in accessibility options I set to Balanced with Moderate Optimizing for best results.

I have a pair of the Bang and Olufsen H95's with magnetic cups. I'm going to check the inside of them after about an hour or so to see if there is any condensation inside of them. I am assuming there will be.
