perhaps indeed, as far as I can remember there where also some kepler bugs in high sierra and early mojave builds.
correct me if im wrong of course.

But these days with latest Mojave, it runs just fine for me.. ;)
I was just talking about the installer, I got around it, then the OS has always been fine for me.

I think the recent mojave installer released no longer has this bug. works fine with the gtx 680

tried with a createinstallmedia thumb drive created from 18G103 (latest 10.14.6 full installer downloadable) and a GTX680 with EVGA Firmware.

The installer bug is still there: There is no metal GPU, installer refused.

Thats funny, I did not have the problem with installer 14.6.06 dated 16 sept 2020. Booted off an external drive and did a clean install on a 5,1 already on 144.0.0.0 firmware. My video card has the same firmware. But you can get around it if you have a problem by using a dosdude configured usb installer (of course you do not need to apply any patches after)

That's another method than using a createinstallmedia USB thumb drive and works with Kepler GPUs.

No big thing for me as I usually use a ssd with high sierra as my system for tools and installers.

But createinstallmedia should work with Kepler GPUs, this is a bug and it is still present.

Hello everyone.
Is it normal that an EVGA GTX 680 4Gb (flash), does not show the temperature value in MacFanControl and others?

Yes, there are just Windows tools to read out Kepler cards.

maybe with tools like opencore we can finally get some temps reading from our flashed GTX680's ??
I'm also looking for a way for a while to get the temps show up within macOS

Very impossible.

Both Apple and Nvidia provide no such support in macOS at all.

Ok thx for your message.. :S
that's a shame, I was still somewhat hopeful to make it work with tools like OpenCore perhaps..
Something like VirtualSMC / FakeSMC may help (via OpenCore).

However, using such kext on a genuine Mac may "disturb" the original SMC's reading, which may makes the fan speed etc become unreadable inside macOS, and makes the situation even worse.

But since the cMP's cooling is so good, and it should be relatively safe to try (even the fans stuck at idle, as long as we don't push the CPU to limit, should be no overheating risk).

I tried this at the time (I have experience with Hackintosh) and it didn't work, I think I remember.

Hey, all, I'm posting to let all y'all know that I was able to flash a MSI Twin Frozr III 2GB GTX680. I had to roll back to an older version of nvflash to make it work. "-4 -5 -6" were the augments I used. I like this one because it's only 2x 6-pin. I'll eventually figure out how to edit the bios to reflect the actual flash card...

@Zeke D can please share MSI Twin Frozr III 2GB GTX680 EFI bios, had same model not able to get boot screen (Twin Frozer 2GD5/OC)

Looks like in general recommendation is to stick to EVGA/reference GTX-680 cards. I do not see this EVGA listed on the first post:
EVGA 02G-P4-3686-KR GeForce GTX 680 FTW 2GB

Is this card going to work with the rom in this thread?

Do the superclocked evga EVGA 02G-P4-2682-XR consume more power, run louder, or take up more space than non-SC?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Hello.
Im not sure if I understood that right.
If I have the original Mac Quadro K5000 rom I can flash any PC Quadro K5000 to Mac?
No mod or hex editing required?

Has any one managed to get a PC quadro K5000 to Mac edition by flashing the original Mac rom?

Thanks for your help

No confirmation, but will work to 99,9%. Before flashing, save your actual rom.
Workstation-cards mostly use the same reference-based design and only very few OEMs distribute this cards. I guess this is due to the restricted, signed drivers for special software and to avoid any issues.

Yes it should work, but this is a very old first post in this thread. I have somewhat newer links to ROMs and instruction in my signature. Granted, I haven't been in this forum for a couple of years so maybe there is even newer information than mine.

I know this post was almost 6 years ago ….
I search the internet during two days for the answer to my question ….
i found a gtx680 the person who gave to me could not tell me how to connect it in my
2008, 3,1 Mac Pro he said it was flashed and ready for Mojave, but he did not have the original lines
to connect it anymore and all he remembered was the fact that both connectors (6 and 8 pins on the card) had to be connected. I could not find a diagram which was I later learned in the manual that came with it, neither the lines that were necessary to connect it to the back plane of the Mac Pro.
Can someone here tell me how and with what?
thank you .

I later found in this post texts about connecting but to me (I am french-canadian) it was not clear.
So point me to the right connector(s) to buy please.
