Guys, I got a K5000 reference PC card, I wonder how I flash it. I tried the k5000 mac rom and NVflash just giving me id not matching, board ID mismatch etc. I don't know what is wrong. Please help. Anyone successfully flashed a k5000? Will nvflash 5.134 work for k5000? Should I use -4 -5 -6? Thanks.

I have this same exact problem. Can anyone assist? Thank you in advance for any help.

Possible but Unconfirmed Models:
Galaxy 68NPH6DV5ZGV
ZOTAC ZT-60101-10P

Based on the specs, these two could be flashable, but no confirmation yet. So do it at your own risk.

Note: 1. Some people also mentioned the Palit GTX 680 2GB (NE5X68001042F) working, but there was a 10-second delay before the boot sceen appeared after the chime, and it is not sold in the US.

Well the Zotac 2gb card definitely works, I just flashed one with the standard mac edition rom. No issues. Apparently there is a 4gb zotac version as well, but i have not tried that.

hi,

which ROM did you use? do you use the card with mojave?

i flashed the zotac 2GB version with dosdudes1's ROM file, but beside the DVI-I none of the other port are functioning correctly, distorted screen etc. (i opened another thread on this topic - but no helpful answers yet)

thank you!

Hi. I know this is an old thread, but still seems extremely good filled with helpful information, I’m currently looking to buy a GTX 680 for my CMP 5,1 2010 to replace the stock HD 5770

I might be buying the ASUS GTX680-DC2O-2GD5

what EFI flash will work for this card? The ASUS one in the original thread starter or is the file hidden in the 16 pages that someone could help me with please

I would personally never go with this big GTX680 version.
It uses 3 slots, which will make you loose one PCI-Express slot, which is not worth it if you ask me..

I would say stick to EVGA GTX680's or reference models.

Hi. Thanks for the advice. I’ve brought a EVGA GTX 680, it appears to be a reference style card, so will be waiting for that to arrive and testing to make sure it works fully then flashing

Sorry it’s been a while. But I’ve only just had time to do it, got my EVGA GTX 680 BIOS modded for the boot screen, got Mojave installed on my 5,1 2010 Mac Pro and trying install windows, but having an issue due to boot camp not working, I partitioned the SSD for half and half (MacOS and Windows) but when I got into Windows via USB it wouldn’t allow me to install on the partition. I deleted all the partitions (apart from MacOS ones) and formatted. But still nothing

Use a dedicated drive for Windows, you can't easily install Windows within an APFS drive.

Anyone know if this card will work? I'm having trouble finding reasonably priced confirmed cards.

Zotac Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 2GB ZT-60101-10BEX

Also, will most of these cards work out of the box and unflashed with no boot screen? Lack of a boot screen may not be a deal-breaker for me.

Just flashed my GTX680, now I have bootscreen but my card runs on PCI 1.0 x16. I tried to set PCI speed using setpci but no success:
Code:
# Before: PCIe 1.0 x16
# After: PCIe 1.0 x16
I also tried to put it to PCI slot 2, still no success

How can I run it on PCI 2.0?

I have only 30fps in Dota2 on 1080p screen resolution, is it okey?

NVIDIA GPUs automatically go from PCIe v1.0 to v2.0 on demand, it's a power saving feature. You don't need to do anything.

Yes you are right, when I run Furmark it runs on PCI 2.0 speeds.

BTW, does anyone have performance penalty with GTX 680 on Mac?
With the quite same test in Furmark on Windows it gains 60fps and only 40fps on MacOS.

Is there any games to check fps on Mac? I tried Dota 2 and I got only 20-30 fps on high settings. But it looks like Dota 2 is badly optimized for gaming on Mac, there are too many reports about it.

I also noticed my GTX 680 runs on PCI 1.0 speed when I run Dota 2.
Is there any ways to make it runs on PCI 2.0 speed permanently?

You are comparing the performance difference between DirectX and OpenGL. Not GTX680 on Mac vs PC.

Hey guys, I bought this EVGA GTX 680 for 50€ today and want to flash it for Mac (I'll use dosdude1's ROM for it). Before I do that, I have a question regarding power consumption of the card. The model number of my card is 02G P4 2683 KR aka 02G P4 2683 B6. My card does not have 2x6pin connector but a 1x6pin connector and a 1x8 pin connector. I have both, a 6pin to 6pin cable and a 8pin to 6 pin cable so that I can hook it up to my Mac Pro 3,1. Now my question is if this particular card does in fact need 2 booster cables and if it is safe to connect this card to my Mac Pro using both cables? (I'm asking because most cards shown in this thread use 2x6pin connectors) Thanks!

I have the 04G-P4-3687-KR, the 4GB FTW+ model of this card, it works with just two 6-pin, but if you gonna use High Sierra with NVIDIA webdrivers+CUDA for some CUDA supported application, it's better to use Pixla's mod with this card, since it's a 250W+ card and you can't use eVGA Powerlink with this one.

If you are going to use Mojave, you probably won't have any problems with just 2 6-pin connectors, the GPU consumption will be downrated to Mac Edition levels. I never had any shutdowns with Mojave and my card.

Btw, don't use one mini-PCIe 6-pin to 8-pin plus one mini-PCIe 6-pin to 6-pin to power it or just a dual miniPCIe 6-pin to PCIe 8-pin cable. Use two mini-PCIe 6-pin to 6-pin to power it, it's the only alternate configuration that works.

So EVGA didn't follow the specification. They should have put 2 8 pins if more than 75W is required on each of them.
You didn't understand what I wrote.

The card is 8+6-pin, but works with 6+6-pin if you install Mac Edition firmware, removing the overclock, and don't use CUDA.

8-pin only, like you remove a RX 580 and connect it don't work and the single 6 to 8-pin plus a 6-pin variation don't work too.

Edit: I got what you are saying, 225W versus my comment of 250W+ card. It's the bursts, not the nominal power draw that made this card a 250W+

I think I get it now. So reflashing with Mac edition firmware "converts" it to 6+6 edition cards, but because it is overclocked to use full potential you need 2mini6-->6 cable installed on the 6 pin connector or the 8 pin connector of the card.
