Well, this morning won't be great for me unless someone tells me I can cancel a CTO order from Apple if it hasn't shipped yet and hasn't appeared as "in production"!

Man, this is going to suck. I placed an order for a quad Mac Pro just last week, and out of growing impatient with the shipping, I did a few searches and ended up on this forum - only to find out new ones may be coming out today! Gah! Sucks.

call them as soon as your countries store is up again. a friend of mine had the same and they replaced it. cancelling your order and place a new one is btw also an option. they will dump the older machines by other channels anyways.

Probably Apple doing you a favour if this all comes true today. Easier to hold you off than deal with you complaining and shipping it back.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by, "It's an option"? Are you saying that Apple provides this service option for not yet shipped CTO orders? Indeed if so, I'd jump to replace it with one of the updated Mac Pros if I could.

Just saw your post Umbongo. Okay guys, I will give it a try! < fingers crossed >
I was just skeptical because of what it says about CTO orders in their refund policy.

Hi folks

looking at those new specs, would 640 refer to the hdd?

that would be 2 x 320gb right? otherwise it would be a 750gb? or are these solid states?

man that would be so cool.

lots of south african mac love on this if it's good :)

No there are 640GB drives.

I might actually have to sell my iMac now (white with 2.13 c2d and 7600gt)...

provided that top end iMac is under 2k... as in 1799 or less.

awesome, thanks for clearing that up. I have never seen a 640gb drive before. (or they don't ship them to us down here)

you learn something new every day!

AHHH, I need new iMac. The Apple Store is taking too long to update and I have to leave for work soon! :(

So, the US site has updated.

Anyone think it's worth canceling my order for the Mac Pro single Quad 2.8 Xeon for the new Mac Pro single Quad 2.66GHz Nehalem? It seems it only supports 8Gb of memory and has a better graphics card. But, is it worth it otherwise?

Can't really stomach the price for the 8-Core model.

IMO definitely worth it. Nehalem has a decent advantage in multithreaded applications.

Oh well, seems like I don't need to return my keyboard, the new one is just a wired version of it.

Cool. :)
