Confirmed: Official UK price from £429

Would have been nice to see sub-£400, but that's not too bad given some of the doom and gloom that's recently been predicted.

I think he meant it will be different than in the US where each model is $100 apart.

Hi Mr Sarcastic. In the US, the price difference was the same no matter what model you upgraded to.
 
Its a bit annoying that the prices are not really fair when you compare them to the US prices.

The model i'be been eyeing was the 32GB+3G which converted from US pricing is £496.38 and they want me to pay £599 to get it in this country.

I think i'll go for the 32gb 3G as I wanted to, although I think it is a little steep. £699 for the top-of-the range is waaaaay too much for an iPad IMO.

Manythings I want in the UK I can't get so yeah it's fair.

32GB Wifi & 3G = $729
$729.00 = £459.15
£459.15 + VAT @ 17.5% (£86.65) = £581.80

Then put the rest down to the cost of shipping it here to the UK, then to your local store. Seems ok to me.

Figures may differ slightly due to the currency situation with the election
 
The premium for 3G is kerrazy. I'm plumping for the 32gb 3G but, carumba, it's gonna hurt!
 
Here it is laid out simply.

Wifi only
16Gb = £429 (inc. VAT)
32Gb = £499 (inc. VAT)
64Gb = £599 (inc. VAT)

Wifi + 3G
16Gb = £529 (inc. VAT)
32Gb = £599 (inc. VAT)
64Gb = £699 (inc. VAT)

So 100 quid to upgrade a Wifi only model to Wifi + 3G. Seems a bit steep really. "An unbelievable price' my arse.

Exactly, decision made, I'm getting one from the US, and I'll buy some accessories with that £100~ i'll save.

In spite of your typo and therefore dodgy-looking maths, I never even thought about the fact that US prices were probably ex sales tax - despite being surprised whenever I'm there that everything goes up in price at the checkout...

Makes the pricing that much more realistic, and I'll remember to point that out to anyone I hear complaining about the prices in this country compared to the US in the future.

Why are people complaining about the prices? It's just US price (which doesn't list sales tax, remember) + 17.5% VAT + a small amount extra for EU distribition.

On Monday I'm ordering a 64GB WiFi for myself, and a 16GB WiFi for the wife.

I think the £100 for a built in USB Modem is not too bad. Have a look at the prices on expansys to see that these dongles separately go for more than that. So again I don't think it's too bad.

Don't get me wrong I would love to see all the iPads cheaper, but at the same time I think the prices are fair.
 
I paid £525 for my US Wi-Fi iPad, so seeing the UK official price at £499. I think the £26 difference was very much worth it seen as I have had it 6 weeks earlier :)

I still want a 3G though, just the prices seem a bit to much, especially with a data plan added into that to.

I wonder why they changed the pricing structure that there is in the US where the jump from 16 to 32 costs the same as the jump from 32 to 64.
