Thanks a bunch! Now, the doc with the AWU 2 is in the party! 🎉 Can you share some insights on the advantages of rocking both a regular watch and an Apple Watch? I’ve heard you’re a daily wearer, and we have a couple of Apple Watch enthusiasts who prefer to wear both. On the flip side, what are the drawbacks of having both a mechanical watch and an Apple Watch (even with an Apple Watch Ultra or a series 10)? We’re all ears!

Well, in my daily usage, one of the main advantages of the AW is to have notifications on my wrist: it’s far comfortable, for me, to rotate my wrist and se if I have to reply to a call, to read an important message etc. For this purpose, no mechanical watches could beat AW. Another one is wake up: in the early morning I could wake up without a ranging wake up.

Also Apple Pay, timer, calendar, to do list, weather complications etc are really useful during my days.

But at the same time, I don’t want to give up the beauty of a mechanical watch on my left wrist. Yes, it’s like jewellery, I admit!

Cons of double wristing? As a right handed person, having an AW on my right wrist is a little bit uncomfortable when I have to handwrite something more than few words. Maybe with a 42 mm series 10 could be better.

It's funny you, other people and companies call it a watch, because it's not. This is a wearable device to monitor your stats and also allows you to do some other basic tasks at most.
By that reasoning: The Apple iPhone, and all like products, aren't "phones," either. They're carriable [*] computers, really.

But Apple calls it a watch, so I'm going to continue to refer to it as a watch.

[*] I just coined that word (maybe?).

You can call it whatever you want, but it won't change the fact that it's not what you think it is.

Thanks, doctor, for taking the time to respond to this long-awaited thread comparing Apple Watch and mechanical watches. Yes, mechanical watches and smartwatches like the Apple Watch do have distinct designs. I primarily use my Apple Watch for productivity and timekeeping, but I also find it convenient to run shortcuts without resorting to my iPhone. With a 15 Pro and its Action button, I can access a menu with my favorite shortcuts, including a focus timer, manual sleep tracking toggle, laundry timer, and automated device settings.

However, if you’re double-wristing with a brick 🧱 Apple Watch Ultra, it can feel like you’re wearing weights on both wrists. It would be better to wear your non-Ultra version, like your old gold Series 4, if you plan to sleep track with it or if the Ultra is charging. You can also multi-pair the Series 10 with it. Honestly, the Apple Watch Series 10 42mm is catching up to the original Apple Watch’s larger case from the Series 3 and earlier. I recommend getting the Series 10 and wearing it during long shifts. A slate or natty titanium band would look great. This way, if you have long work hours, you can write notes with the Apple Pencil on your iPad Pro or write up lots of prescription notes without straining your wrists.

I have to say that, after 1 years of Ultra 2 on my right wrist, is not a big problem to deal with the weight. And, unfortunately, writing is, nowadays, not so common at work: too much technology 😂

PS it’s a pleasure, for me, to share experiences and opinions ☺️

I was responsible enough to inform him (and you) that it’s a wearable gadget device.

I'm not here to defend something.
You know, "wearable gadget device" could describe a watch.

And to me, it feels like you are busily defending your point of view that Apple watch isn't a watch. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seriously, where does a device stop being a watch and becomes a gadget to you?

Is this a watch?

How about this?

Trying to insist that a device worn on the wrist with time-telling capabilities isn't a watch - as someone already said this thread is peak internet - congratulations!

So based on your logic this is also a watch…

An iPhone 12 in a strappable wrist mount 😂 these things y’all can get from a dollar store.

I still have this workout armband that holds my iPhone from Jillian Michaels, a popular workout DVD trainer. As it turns out, it’s too short for modern iPhones unless you still use the iPhone SE 2/3, iPhone 12, or 13 mini. Even without a case. Great for Time to Walk or Time to Run audio workouts for running and walking, and use your headphones with it. My 15 Pro is too tall for the accessory.

Jillian has her own line of workout gear, and I own Jillian DVDs that I’ve used extensively during the pandemic and beyond. Before getting my new Apple Watch Series 6, which is fitness+ compatible, I used them regularly. I still use my Jillian workout gloves for playing flag football and getting a good grip on the ball, and the ankle supports.

Cool, you’ve gotten used to the weight of those bulky AWUs, right? Now, you’re doing all the charting, prescription stuff, and research work on your iPad Pro and Mac, huh? Apple has also integrated HealthKit from the Apple Watch and iPhone, so patients can share their Apple Watch health data with clinicians like you. You can even export it to your iPad and Mac. Have you heard of it before?

By the way, how often do you wear both watches and your Apple Watch Ultra 2 on a daily basis?

A timepiece mostly just tells time and is a fashion accessory.

AW does that and even more. But isn't a fashionable.

I don't see why you can't do both?

I wear time pieces to events and parties, and Apple Watch for everything else.

Well, also AW for some events and parties. Barely anyone cares. It's mostly for ourselves, in my opinion.

What is your point?
You’ve made your opinion clear in like almost 10 posts here, yes YOUR OPINION, nothing more, nothing less.
Accept the fact that people do not share your opinion.

I will continue posting my opinions and if you like you can read, comment or ignore them. Deal?

I just read the OP as "I am spending a bunch of money on a watch and I want to let people know about it so I get my monies worth"
I know it comes off that way because it happens to be about an expensive purchase, but if you were there for the amount of back and forth he went through before finally buying and keeping an Apple watch, you know it's not about the money.
