The list of the reasons why Android is better than iPhone (as of April 2012, anyway) could fill a book.

1. More secure screen lock - pattern lock has 389K combinations, vs 10K for the iPhone

2. LED notification light - I can customize the light color for different notifications and know exactly what is waiting for me without having to turn on the screen.
Missed call/voicemail? Green light.
Text/Facebook message? Blue light.
WhatsApp message? White light.
Low battery? Red light.

3. 4G LTE - 12Mbps up, 10Mbps down, 39ms ping, all day every day.

4. Free wireless tethering

5. Widgets and custom Notification Bar status indicators.

6. Google Navigation

7. Firefox/Chrome-to-Phone - Push a website (to the browser), directions (to Google maps), phone number (to the Dialer), or text (to the clipboard) from my PC instantly to my Android's screen.

8. Ability to change default programs/choose from multiple programs to perform a task
Okay so Android is better because of the screen lock? Does it make a difference if some has your phone? One issue neglected here is the micro sd card for on a lot of Android phones. How many people go through the trouble of securing theirs? Oops. Screen lock means diddly now, huh?

LED notification lights ARE NOT on all Android devices. Not even new top of the line devices. It is not as standard as you would like people to believe.

And 4G LTE may be on a phone, but that means jack, when your town only supports HSPA and you get a download speed of 1mps! If you live in a city with LTE, it is friggin amazing. Point is, my iPhone 4 and 4G LTE capable Skyrocket get the exact same speeds were I live. And a vast majority of people will run into this issue as well, if they haven't already.

Google Nav and free wireless tethering are both Android advantages, as I said before.

Oh and by the way, pushing website bookmarks and data to and from the iphone can be done. I use Firefox and Atomic. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky with Android. I pushed my bookmarks over easy enough, but getting bookmarks itheir proper place and creating folders took time. But I expected this.

And I am not showing favoritism towards Apple, I am being devil's advocate and making counterpoints for your points. Nothing personal intended, so please do not take it as such.

Well it's certainly not worse because of the screen lock.
LED notification lights ARE NOT on all Android devices.
True. Still, this is a native Android feature that Samsung on a few of its devices for whatever reason has chosen to disable...and they can easily use NoLED instead.
And 4G LTE may be on a phone, but that means jack, when your town only supports HSPA and you get a download speed of 1mps!
This is a deficiency in your local network, not a deficiency of Android.
a vast majority of people will run into this issue as well, if they haven't already.
2/3 of the U.S. population now lives in a 4G LTE market, actually.
pushing website bookmarks and data to and from the iphone can be done.
That's a different feature. This is what I was referring to.

I am also a huge huge Apple fan.. even have stocks in it... have the new iPads and iPhone. I also own the Galaxy S2 from ATT. It is really really nice. I am seriously thinking of getting the new Galaxy Tab 10 inch in May... the new Quad core version. I love the new iPad. I think I need to given the 'other' credit also for their extreme hard work. I am learning to change my mentality and try to be as neutral as possible in terms of learning and trying new technologies as they come so my kids will learnt to be more neutral instead of taking sides in making decisions no matter what the nationality is. This Galaxy thing is so fast I cannot believe others kept talking about it.. and then I thought why not try it when they had it free a few weeks back. I got a 32gb SD from Amazon for $24 and stored stored several ipod, ipad video formats [just as a test] and they all played well with no problems on the Galaxy with no conversion needed... and no iTunes needed. I think the iPad can also do it but...

I am hooked to apple it started with the iPhone 3G I loved the simplicity, realibility and look since than I moved to iPhone 4 and now 2 years later I am ready to move to a iPhone 5 but it doesnt end there I converted all my gear to apple including my dell xps desktop to a iMac almost 2 years ago and my hp pavilion the crapest and unreliable laptop for a MacBook pro again almost 2 years ago I got my first iPad this year and I got to say all apple gear is pretty much pay for what you get no crappy stickers, no useless blinking lights or hardware that doesn't take full advantage of the os or software it's running.

My iPhone's hardly freeze and my MacBook and iMac never need rebooting I ain't leaving apple anytime soon for windows or android which require you to press or click on more than one icon to preform a simple task. I think apples minimalist interface wins.

huh??? If anything Android is more simple b/c of how you can set it up, your thought there backfires lol. How about Apples settings, talk about friggen annoying... and main reason to jailbreak so you can have SBS running for toggles vs going back and forth through the settings menu. 1st thing I install on every jb'd phone. Or JB for something like BiteSMS for quick messaging which is so much better then having to go into the stock app everytime, which Android does stock.

Where do you see multiple clicks? Want to talk -> click phone icon, want to text -> click msg icon, want to browse -> click browser icon, setup schedules etc -> click the calendar, sounds simple to me. If you have a folder then you have to click it, and then click whatever icon you want, is that multiple clicks and "non simplicity" to you? B/c you do know if you have a folder on iOS you'll have to click it, then click the icon as well.... sounds similar to me :D

Toggles is for losers. No one uses that anymore. I used tasker to automate all that stuff for me.

1) From 0600-1800 set auto brightness on
2) From 1800-0600 set auto brightness off, brightness lowest setting
3) automatically switch off wifi when not in room based on cell tower locations

Thats all you need. I don't even mess around with bluetooth cause I never use it and same goes for gps. I only need it for navigation and so that is the only app that can use gps.

Your S2 doesn't lag because it has an exynos processor in it. The skyrocket uses a snapdragon because its LTE enabled and the Samsung exynos processors dont support LTE yet. My brother has a AT$T S2 and its buttery smooth. Because of the superior exynos processor.

So for this reason would you recommend getting the International Note over the AT&T LTE Note?

If you have an use multiple email accounts it's very annoying on the iPhone. Usually I don't need to click anything it's on my home page. I feel like I'm menu diving to check my work email then my gmail.

Wifi is annoying to, maybe I don't know how to do it but I want to prioritize my home email over my mobile hotspot. Once again menu diving to do something that shouldn't require anything IMO.

No option to set as default is annoying too. If I find a browser I like I need to copy a link out of safari have the time. This is adding half a dozen steps to a simple task.

I think android is perceived to be more complicated because there are a bunch of steps you need to take to get everything the way you like it. But once you do that it's so much easier and faster IMO. I like how simple the iPhone is to figure out but I wouldnt confuse that with ease of use.

I'm not a convert as I've never had an iPhone, but I'm not giving up on my android due to the opportunity to install third party keyboards. With the swift key app, I can type 80% faster than I can on my iPad. That's a huge difference, especially when you're on the go, and enough for me not to go for an iPhone until the predictive text function there improves massively.

I've been doing a bit of research and it appears a lot of that is correct, so I was wrong for the most part.

I have been able to find a few articles stating cause of fees can give android devs more bang per app but the obvious flip side is the volume of iOS app sales is higher.

Apparently the ad based apps is very lucrative with google being they are an ad company vs apple. Battery life? Sure makes sense but the majority of my apps on both devices have ads.

I also came up with year old articles saying android apps are more expensive. But that is definitely not right. The BEST I'm seeing now is the same price but most are cheaper on android.

I'm not sure ads are the right way to go here. A recent article shows Google made 4 times as much money over the years from iOS than from Android. I'm not sure if this is the reason why, but I know many of my Android co-workers install ad blockers on their phones. If ad blockers become widespread (if they aren't already) then developers won't have an answer to the piracy problem.

This is all fine and dandy to say, but the real world isn't anything like what it says on paper. I was just in a big LTE area (San Fran). I got LTE in a lot of places and in others it was very spotty. On one side of a store I had great reception and in another no LTE. My hotel room was only a couple of miles from Apple's HQ in Cupertino and I couldn't even get 4G speeds. Once I got a about 1/4 of a mile away, bCk to 4G.

Blame networks, blame manufacturers, whomever... Point is, 4G is not everywhere, it doesn't work all the time even in LTE network areas, so all that little 4G LTE branding on the phone gives you is bragging rights. Nothing more, since you will be operating at slower speeds than even iphone owners. Which is ironic.

??? Setting up multiple email accounts on iphone is pretty simple. Same with specialized calendars for notificTions and siri integration. I have my ipad set up this way, so I get notified when I have a yahoo, hotmail, gmail or icloud mail waiting for me. Quite simple. I find the Android email setup more cumbersome. I was using K-9, but went back to stock Touchwiz. I really hope Samsungs UI version over ICS brings a quality email client that is simple, elegant and lightweight to use.

Yes. 100%.

Unless you live in an LTE area and wouldn't mind some choppiness here and there.

My city is getting LTE before summer but I have a Lumia 900 so my LTE needs can be satisfied with that. I would much rather have the smoother experience. Thanks for the info.

? I didn't say it wasn't simple just annoying. If I have to check my work email to see a PDF then want to look at my gmail for some personal stuff I need to click mail, click work account, click new email, click PDF, click back (out of PDF), click back (out of new email), click back (out of work email), click gmail, click new email. So 9 step to check 2 emails one with a PDF.

Now trust me I know that's not hard or difficult by any stretch of the imagination. But that's literally 7 more steps to do the same thing, usually its even more because I already have a preview of the gmail and might not need to check it.

That's why in my opinion its annoying and more difficult. Obviously some argue widgets suck and blah blah, that's fine that's their opinion and they are entitled to it. But multiple emails using widgets really streamline the entire experience.

Edit : see below....lol

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but is there a reason why you aren't viewing all inboxes at once?

Sorry but really... who cares?

Seriously. The user who posted has an LED light on his Android phone which is something he enjoys. Who cares if it is not offered on all Android devices? Not him.

The user has 4G LTE and it works great for him/her. Who cares if other people don't have it yet? Not him.

This is the beauty of Android. Flexibility. Not all devices are the same..some might work great for some, some might not. Some might prefer IOS.

Just because IOS is better for one user, does not mean it is better for another. Also, Google navigation/wireless tethering is only a plus if you use it. If not, Why would you care if Android offers it?

Respectfully, I don't believe you read the entire thread, or you would have known the context of my reply. In summary, it was a counter to what the poster said about ALL Android phones having these different functions, which was not a true statement. And I know about Android. My phone is a SGS2 Skyrocket.

Yep, cause apparently I'm a moron and forgot all about that! Seriously lol.

That is a good and very obvious point. However for ME that doesn't work to well cause of the volume of important email I get. It's more of an organization thing for me.

I retract saying that though as I see that would work very well for the majority of people.

LED light is overrated, I have it on the HTC One S and could not care less if that function is removed.

That being said, I am content with moving to Android, app selection certainly isn't that good but ice cream sandwich makes up for the many features that iOS is lacking.
