It's not so much features as it is potential, such as the ability to make your phone block all ads simply by rooting it (which is way easier than jailbreaking) and then downloading an app that can download HOSTS files from the internet and then block all ads from EVER entering your phone in any way, even on apps that you download from the Play store.

For most people, its also the fact that Android acts more like a desktop operating system, with full access to the filesystem, default programs, and the ability to configure your OS any way you wish. You just have way more control over your phone with Android than you do with iOS, and it takes minimal effort.

For non-tinkerers, its not an attractive option, but for a tinkerer like me, it is.

Even for non tinkers because it can be setup just like an iOS device. Thats the beauty.

I embrace all platforms, we have PC's including a Zenbook here, we also have MBA & iPad. I don't hate the iPhone & I suspect iPhone 5 will sell like hot cakes. All that said my current phone is a Galaxy Nexus, I do a lot of work on my phone & I have old eyes, a big screen is just a must have. A phone can have every feature going but if I'm squinting trying to use the thing, it's not a productivity device for me.

Which is why Apple should get smart and take their own iPad Mini play and do an iPhone Note.

5 inch screen, 16x9 display just like the current one, and make that iOS act more like OSX and Apple will bring me back on as their customer.

No if I download a PDF and choose to open that PDF in goodreader. If I wanted to open that same PDF in Adobe Reader, I would need to DL the app again.

Exchange account inconsistency? When you set up an exchange account you remain in the app the entire process, it goes step by step from screen to screen. I don't see how that isn't intuitive? Mind you, i am talking about ICS and JB.

Sounds like Good reader has failed in its implementation of the feature.

What you describe has not been my experience on multiple phones. It kept forcing me to the security control panel to adjust settings and such. Most annoying setup of EAS ever!

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

What do you think of the Zenbook vs MBA? I'm debating a Zenbook. Also debating loading Win 8 on a rMBP.

I already know I'm buying a Windows Phone 8 device when I get tired of my iPhone 4S, unless the next iPhone shoots spider-killing laserbeams. There's just not any big advantage to owning an iPhone anymore when most of the widely used apps are available on all platforms and all the competitors have the same or more features.

I respect your opinion, but the other side of me thinks "Why are you OK with spending $199 for less features"

I can get a Galaxy S3 or and iPhone 4s for $199. To me, feature for feature, Galaxy S3 is the best bang for my buck.

It sometimes seems that people are OK with mediocrity from Apple, I am not!

Well, it doesn't exactly have "Less" features, IMO. It has "different" features. for me, the Apple ecosystem is a feature you don't get with Android... Siri, App selection (dont have to wait months for some apps to become available, e.g. netflix, paper etc.), simpleness of the OS. Sure, with Android you get the Google ecosystem, Google Now (Siri alternative), and others, but they aren't the same. Don't get me wrong, Android is a great OS, and I may one day in the future move over to it... who knows, but it's like asking a Honda owner why they didn't go with a Toyota. Or why you drink Coke over Pepsi, or Java over .Net. iOS is best for me.

Why is Bluetooth File Transfer still restricted?
Why can't I DL an Mp3 from my email and add it to my Music.app?
Why doesnt the notification center display indicators in the status bar for what type of alert I have? Mail icon for email, Bubble Icon for text... etc etc

When i had android it would get very crowded in the status bar with notifications. That maybe one of the reasons apple didnt do it.

Another maybe that the icons also get bagded.

I may be doing the unthinkable and going Android. For someone as Apple-crazed as I am, it should worry Apple that someone like me feels this way.:apple::eek:

I've already done the unthinkable and gone Android and ***TRUST*** I was the poster child for the iPhone.

All I'm saying is that more are waking up/being put to sleep (depending on how you see things) by/to Apple and its unwillingness/inability to deliver something new and REVOLUTIONARY... not evolutionary.

Despite my uneasiness around the iPhone 5 prior to launch, Apple once again sucked me in with those gorgeous product pages and product details. :p:apple::p

They have convinced me that I use my phone one-handed a lot and that I should be happy with a 4" screen that is 640 pixels wide.

Also, if you watch Steve's keynote for the original iPhone, he stressed that iPhone is designed to be super easy to use, and it is...so I'm no longer clamoring for 37 home screens of Android/carrier bloatware.

My 16GB Black and Slate iPhone 5 is en route and will be delivered on Friday:D 7.6mm thin with diamond cut beveled edges. I'll take that over a red plastic phone with a hideous carrier logo on the back.
