Early results on mine and a couple of other people on the Apple Support thread for this issue are very positive. The known way to trigger the speaker pop doesn't produce the popping sound anymore. It's early for sure, but encouraging.

Just popped using Facebook on 8.3

Extremely encouraging!

I can't get it to pop. Believe me, I know how to make it pop via Spotlight and ringer and alerts. I could make it pop on demand on 8.2. I can no longer do it on 8.3.

I have keyboard clicks and lock sounds on now.

yeah so far so good haven't tested mine yet.

Swiping up and down on the home screen multiple times to reveal the Spotlight keyboard always gave me a pop. I could do it over and over again.

I can no longer get it to pop this way. Something seems to have changed. I'm hopeful.

Nice, hope this problem gets solved finally, it has been a long time.

Maybe they just changed it so it doesn't drive the speaker?

If you turned up the volume and listened closely while doing that you could hear a faint sound coming from the speaker.

Any sound, no matter how faint, can trigger a pop. That's why turning off keyboard clicks and lock sounds, reduces but doesn't eliminate pops.

I hear you! 8.3 seems to be a very nice update.

That could be. Whatever they did, it seems to working here. I have keyboard clicks and lock sounds on now. So far, so good. *fingers crossed*

Well, results for me seem to be very positive. The popping sound I experienced actually never happened while I was using the device, aside from the trick used to trigger it. It would always happen when the device was sitting idle, locked, and a notification came through. It didn't matter how loud or quiet I had the notification volume set, right before the notification tone played, a terribly loud pop would emanate from the speakers. This behavior was very erratic...sometimes I'd get 5 e-mails in 15 minutes, and it would happen every single time. Sometimes it would go a few hours before happening, and then not happen again for another few.

So, it's still early to say for sure, but since the update I've had an exorbitant amount of notifications come through, and not once has it popped, not a single time. I cannot trigger the pop using the known swiping method either. I've been sitting with it all day, and nothing....tried swiping up and down about a hundred times, and nothing. No pops. Keyboard clicks and lock sounds are turned on, btw

If anything changes, I'll be sure to chime in with my disappointment. But I've just not been able to reproduce the speaker pop at all today.

The can report the same very positive results here.

I've tried every way I know to trigger the pop. I have not heard it or been able to reproduce it. I've tried the Spotlight test, ringer/alerts test literally multiple times and still not a thing. I could reliably get it to pop doing these actions.

Keyboard and click ON at all times.

I've had notifications come in from Fb messenger, while in Safari and with the keyboard active. Nothing. I've been testing this very thoroughly, with my wife sending me messages with the keyboard active in other apps while typing.

Interestingly, I shared this on Apple forums, my brother could reproduce the pop when he repeatedly swiped up/down to reveal the Spotlight keyboard.

He didn't know this issue existed until I had him try the Spotlight test and he was very surprised. This was on 8.2. He updated yesterday to 8.3 and tested it again thoroughly. No pop! This leads me to believe Apple made some changes for sure.

I'm super pleased at the moment. I believe it's solved, at least for me and some others. I'll continue to monitor it, do some more testing and post here if it should happen again. Happy days are here again! :D

Not sure if this is the same issue or a different issue. Since updating my iPad Air 2 to iOS 8.3 when I play XCOM:EW I heard crackling noises while playing the game. It's fairly frequent and repeatable. Not sure if the problem is XCOM or iOS 8.3 or the combination of the two.

Same happened to me yesterday with Mortal Combat X, the first time i run it a lot of cracking noises, i exit the app, run it again and issue solved, don't know if it is related, that app was released yesterday for the first time so bugs are expected....

If I open and close XCOM several times it seems to go away. However the fix isn't permanent since it comes back if you open the app later.

I don't think it's the same issue.

This issue was more of a random one time pop or snap sound. It could happen repeatedly, but never a continuous crackling.

Yours is most likely an app issue.

Have you guys noticed the keyboard sounds are now less louder? or just my imagination?

It seems about the same to me, but I never really paid close attention.

Have you heard any pops, smorrissey? Nothing here.

Well I got my first pop under 8.3 when opening an app. They seem to be happening less often, but they haven't been eliminated.

Any update? Any pops during notifications?

Still pop free here. :)

I've only had one pop since upgrading, which is significantly less than I would have had by this time. Even if it's not 100% fixed, it's close enough that I consider it for all intents and purposes fixed.

I had one pop when I just upgraded to 8.3.

Nothing since then, its either fixed or almost fixed because I used to get at least a couple time a day.
