Er, do you realize that the last 5 posts in your thread are from... you?

Anyway, this thread should have been shut down by the mods when it started 3 months ago. I mean, talk about childish. OP makes claims. When asked to verify, he tells people to check it out themselves. People get pissed and start talking in harrassing tones. He gets pissed and starts pissing back.

In the meantime, people do post comparison costs. They are ignored, and the OP is again harrassed about not providing the information that's already in the thread. The OP then turns around and continues to act in a manner that makes most (including the demi he's going back and forth with) want to slap him.

But what really takes the cake, is the same people who are complaining that he doesn't provide other prices for comparison, complain when he posts where he bought his for less, and claim that he's trying to support another vendor and is advertising.

Of course, the OP can't let it die, and continues posting in jest towards those who he's pissed at.

How old are we here?

I think this thread can rest in peace - we all know that there are difference places that have different prices on different products. Those different places have varrying levels of quality, which may or may not be important to you/your brother/your best friend, but it is to others.

Why all the pointless arguing and back and forths? Just lock this thread up and let it die...

While you can buy some really cheap ram, I never thought crucial ram was all that expensive, I mean it might be now but it wasn't when I bought my G5s ram from them 3 years ago.

You guys talking up OWC who want OBSCENE amounts of money for Mac Pro memory. Talk about ripping you off, $259 for a piece of metal.

Some prices for 2 1GB DIMMS.

http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other World Computing/53FB1GD2GBK/
$549 for "Mac Pro" memory.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820134085
$337.98 ($168.99 x2) "DDR2 FB-DIMM ECC Fully Buffered DDR2 667 " *Needs Heatsink*

http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.Asp?IMODULE=CT2KIT12872AF667
$290.99 for "DDR2 PC2-5300 • CL=5 • FULLY BUFFERED • ECC • DDR2-667 " *Needs Heatsink*

Guess there is no inexpensive RAM for my Pro :\

Times change and prices change. Crucial has, at times, had great prices...other times not so much. But they stand behind their products so people become return customers.

Same with OWC. I've bought a ton of stuff from them over the years including memory. Their prices are generally competitive and they are always very helpful with returns and whatnot. They usually are not more expensive to go through, but even when they are you know that they have a great service team so it's worth it IMHO.

The main thing is that many people are willing to pay more for components that are guranteed to work in their system...If I was dropping $3k+ on a Mac Pro that's what I would do, even if it cost more than memory of the same type (but not guranteed to work, or with a scary return policy) from another vendor.

sorry to hear.

I have done what I think is useful, you disagree, fine but put a period right there, no reason to tell me what I should post and what I shouldn't. Thx.

I thought I mentioned it earlier, I am not hear to do free marketing for online vendors, but I will point out what I THINK are "absurd prices".

I understand Crucial is a sponsor here, but trust me, I don't care, rather they should.
You are so lame. Just like this comment and the entire thread. Stop wasting other's time.

and on scan, corsair memory is £58.15

Better news for me though is that komplett has it for 100 euro. WUHOO!

They have crucial memory for 115 euro, but after they tried ripping off mac users i think i'll stick with corsair. Just as good and they don't rip people off (well not as much :) )
