I have an X and like it. Camera screen etc are great. The Xs doesn't really do much more, expectantly, than the X in my book. Same size, better camera, faster etc etc.

The Xs Max I'll have to see to see the size, I've had Plus phones before and then coming to an X the size was great. Just not sure on the size though of the Xs Max.

However the Xr, although the cheaper option, seems decent. Decent camera features still on a single lense (over my X), nice (some!) colours, bigger screen than X, not sure how big in real use terms.

Not sure on the screen, admit the X screen is really nice, but used LCDs up until this. I'd imagine it's a decent screen though in the Xr.

Disregarding price I think the Xr looks decent and I could be tempted, anyone else? I'm on iUP as well on X and don't think I'd go for Xs.

What do people think? Options from X?
Thanks

I have been going back and forth, but I am leaning towards not upgrading at this point. The only thing I would do is go to the Max, but all you're really getting is a bigger screen. I don't see it as all that worth it for me personally. I think I'll just upgrade my iPad and Apple Watch this year.

I'm upgrading to the max. Couple of reasons..
1. I am on the iPhone upgrade program. It makes literally no sense to not upgrade this year. Why wait to next year? Its only costing me tax and like $8 additional dollars a month to upgrade.
2. I think the screen is going to be beautiful on the Max. It has to be. Although the phone is bigger, I think that I can get back used to it. I had a plus every year until the X came out.
3. If I cant get used to the size, I just return the Max and get the regular size Xs.
4. My iPad got stollen a few months ago, and I’ve been missing it. Hoping many a phablet will make up for it. Maybe I won't have to get an iPad anymore.

Fair reasons, I somewhat agree with you, but even the minimal cost isn't sounding all that worth it to me. Plus you'll need to pay for two months of payments also. It will end up being about $300 to upgrade over the next year. I kind of just don't care anymore either.

I'll be upgrading to the 256 GB SG Max. I love my X but really missed the extra real estate from my old 8+. It should only come up to $3 or $4 dollars more per month so I'm making the call to go for it. If I wasn't on a yearly upgrade plan, then there would be no way I would be upgrading from the X though.

No need for me to upgrade from my X. I've only had it since this past spring. I love the size and performance of this iPhone.

Besides, I need to budget for a new iMac or Mini with a display (depending on what comes out).

I don't know where you got $300 from.. I only owed 1 payment some type of way. I'll be upgrading for less than 200 with taxes.

I have missed my Plus Phone although got used to the X. I am getting SG MAX 512Gb. Ready to order tomorrow!

Not sure... iOS 12 on the X has this thing faster and smoother than when it came out - no hyperbole, that’s objectively true.

At worst, I’m in no hurry to upgrade, so I’ll wait until I get the Max in my hands to make a decision.

Definitely getting the Watch.

Hoping OnePlus 6T comes to T-Mobile in October so I can finally leave Apple.

Not upgrading. Spent $1,150 last year on the 256 GB X and it's still a powerhouse and is just as well with iOS 12.

For the Xs, despite having several enhancements - which should be expected - it did not pack that one or two key features that previous S phones have. Particularly the 5 to 5S was a significant jump and the 6 to 6S was an even more significant jump, IMO.

The 3GS introduced video recording and double RAM.

The 4S introduced Siri

The 5S introduced 64 bit and Touch ID

The 6S introduced second gen Touch ID, 3D Touch, double RAM

Again, while the Xs certainly has several overall enhancements it does not seem to pack that key feature that previous S phones have. Something like true second gen Face ID or true wireless (non-inductive) charging would be an example. Obviously not entirely sure about the RAM since Apple never discusses, but still. And the rumor that pricing for the Xs was going to start at $899 did not even come true. Even looking on Apple's Xs page on the website, most of the features that are being touted are either the same or somewhat enhanced features of the X.

Now the S4 watch, on the other hand....

So far no one going with Xr then. I'm on iUP and so "upgrading" would reduce my payments, this isn't a priority to me though just think the Xr is a better, maybe, upgrade over the Xs, or I stay the same.

My iUP doesn't trigger (for no extra payments), until Oct 4th so can see in flesh the Xs Max suppose.

The watch 4 does look good and I'm tempted over my series 1.

I'm leaning towards replacing my X with the XS. The X is a great phone and the XS looks to be an even better phone.

The dual SIM is going to be pretty useful for me too since I'll be able to have one phone instead of two.

My Watch is a Series 3 GPS, which I’m quite happy with, but the 4 looks really good. I’m thinking my daughter will be acquiring my gently-used S3 in the near future. :)

Not true. The new camera will be considerably better. Computational photography is THE biggest upgrade to the iPhone camera in years. There's more to it than the spec sheet. You will see the differences in a few weeks.

I love my X. The price when released was crazy to me (still is), but it was the best iPhone upgrade I made. I really see no reason to upgrade it to the XS, but the XS Max just keeps getting more and more appealing to me. I might be in the minority, but I preferred the heavier X to the previous models, and I am sure I will prefer the XS Max weight.

The screen size and display on the XS Max are really the main reason I am going to upgrade despite the hefty price tag. I really wish the Pencil was compatible with it though, and I still can't believe they chose these names.

As much as I would prefer to have a larger size phone. I simply can't justify the cost especially since this is an "S" year upgrade. There is not much of a software or functional change over the different size phones. I was hoping for some additional features vs the regular Xs model. I'd love to jump up to the 256gb model too. And the 512GB model's price is totally absurd to me.

As much as I enjoy my Apple products, they are pricing me out. I either need to keep my phones for a lot longer or move to something else. Even the "affordable" Xr is IMO is not a great deal. You can get an iPhone 8 256GB which is fully capable device for about the same as the 64 gb Xr.

I'm scared for next year to see what the price of the 11 or 15 or XX or whatever they want to name the next upgrade. After taxes in the US we could see 512GB iPhones getting close to 1.7k.

I am saying for me. I personally don't find the camera upgrades worth it. The only thing I would be upgrading for is a bigger screen.
