Because it was released before it was ready for the general public. It's too buggy. I think I'll wait.

This guy is no authority. He thinks the "ding" noise for changing volume is gone. He thinks iWork 09 doesn't work. He thinks that changing to "dark mode" is for people who have vision difficulties.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into anything he says. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Yosemite, but he seems downright ignorant.

… Sorry if I offended anyone. Have a nice day.

No offence :)

bigchief, your opening post is well-intended, that was easy to see from the outset.

Two pages later … it's fair to say that Cox – of PC Classes Online, http://www.PCClassesOnline.com (for anyone who still wonders who he is) – has far from good knowledge of Apple operating systems. Some of his misunderstandings are the same as a new user's misunderstandings, and so on. He may be generally a good trainer (I don't plan to watch the video – there has been more than enough dissection for me), and may have expertise in a non-Apple operating system, but those two things are not enough. If he's to promote his advice about installing or upgrading to Yosemite, he should have an acceptable level of knowledge about both Yosemite and (at least) Mavericks.

Simply, politely: his apparent novice level of knowledge is not good enough for a person who offers classes – classes for people who also may be novices.

Readers: I don't expect any new revelations and I (personally) don't wish to criticise the video beyond what's already written in this topic, so I'll say thanks to bigchief and all, and it's unsubscribe time for me …

Who?

edit:
Just watched the video. I can't believe anyone watches this idiot. He has almost no knowledge on anything he talked about.

Down by the river
I've got Yosemite in 3 of my 5 machines and it's running quite well.

Edit: And after watching this guys video, I agree with the other assessments above. He needs to become a bit more educated on things OSX if he's going to publish info like that.

I find it depressing to think that people will form opinions based on that guy's "Expertise". He spent a full two minutes whining about things that aren't even problems and said that he recommended "Not upgrading".

For novice computer/Mac users, that will mean "Don't ever upgrade".

Just awful.

I find it funny that the thread "Post here if you love Yosemite on your mac" only got 44 replies and then look at all of the other threads.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1802825/

The reason I bought a Mac for the first time this year is because of the reputation of being stable. After using the MBP for 3 months with 10.9 I love it.

Even though I am a newbie to Mac computers it's easy to see 10.10 should not have been released to the general public with so many bugs. Apple needs new leadership.

Steve Jobs is rolling over in his grave right now.

You guys really think Yosemite is bug free? I find that to be a stretch even for a diehard apple fanatic. If so do you think this is really the final release of Yosemite and we won't see any updates to it from Apple?

Every OS has bugs, and they will always have bugs. There will be ongoing updates to Yosemite, just as there have been for every previous OS as well.

I ran all the betas and had no issues on my machines, so I went ahead and upgraded my Mavericks to Yosemite and no issues so far. Doesn't mean it's going to be flawless for everyone. Just like any new OS release from any vendor, it may be prudent to wait at least for the .1 release if you're risk averse :)

That was my point. There is a whole lot of us "risk averse" mac users out here in the general public that don't eat, sleep, and breath OSX. They buy a mac, they use it, they like it, along comes a new update to software that Apple says "it's ready to be downloaded" when it's not "for the general public. Just look at this board.

Jobs understood that. The current Apple leadership does not.

apple's history is littered with missteps, buggy software...real moments. just like now. in that respect, nothing's changed.

10.10 needs work, as did every other first-release of OS X. meanwhile, for most people, it's working pretty well.

what happens on forums like this represents a tiny percentage of macusers. it's the obvious place to complain/whine...and hopefully, ask for (and get) help.

I don't think anyone is saying that Yosemite is not without its bugs. It has plenty of them, and i'm hopeful Apple will release the first beta of 10.10.1 pretty soon.
I think you should re-read the posts in this thread alone. "Runs fine for me!", "David A. Cox can up and die, Yosemite runs great!" don't seem to be comments that acknowledge that Yosemite has bugs.

Every upgrade to an Apple operating system results in comments claiming that there are bugs, others claiming it is perfect. Sometimes the bugs are overstated, sometimes those who have a perfect experience question the veracity of those who haven't.

When Apple releases an update to address issues, some of those with a perfect experience will tell the "complainers" to stop complaining because Apple addressed the issues...which the defenders didn't acknowledge existed in the first place. LOL

...and so it goes.

I like Apple products. I've been using an iPhone since #3. I have an iPad air. When my 8 year old Dell XPS started to act funny this summer I bought a MacBook Pro 15". I love using all of them but now Apple is pushing out new software thats no where near ready for prime time.

Can you say Windows 8?

Oh well but like I said I enjoy using 10.9 and I'll stay with it for how ever long it takes to fix 10.10.
