With Yosemite, even my 2013 (new) Mac Pro was choppy when running the P2715Q at higher resolutions (3k in HiDPI mode). It was most noticeable when using Mission Control to switch screens. The video now runs buttery smooth on El Capitan. I believe Apple rewrote the graphics code in El Capitan to take advantage of Metal, which gave it a big speed boost.

Good to hear. Must be El Capitan. Even at 30hz it's not as bad as some people reported last year under Yosemite.

Just received the P27 in the mail today $350 from eBay free shipping. Played with the settings a bit, now I'm in love. This is an awesome panel, and I love the High DPI scaling. Runs great on El Cap so far

What settings are using?
Ill have to check my RBG colors that I set it to when I get home this evening. I don't do photography, so it's not professionally calibrated but it is calibrated to my comfortable viewing. I will say if people are having trouble with the very warm whites, turn down the Red just a bit and it really helps.

Also not sure if I want to run the display scaling to 1080p long term, everything is crispy but I wouldn't mind the screen real estate of 1440 scaling. 4K res makes everything wayy to time for my taste.

Okay thanks. I've kept it on the default 1920 x 1080 because it's so crystal clear but if someone is using a different resolution that's just as clear I wouldn't mind trying it.

I just picked up the P2415Q and everything seems to be running great (4K at 60hz) from my late 2013 15" rMBP.

Only problem I am having is mouse cursor is leaving a trail on the screen, is there any way to fix this or is this the type of issue that comes with using an external monitor?

Usually when you see a trail behind the mouse, that's a sign that you are running at a slower refresh rate (like 30Hz). Are you sure you are running at 60Hz?

Well when I open the menu on the monitor itself it says resolution:3840x2160, 60hz. But I just restarted my macbook pro (which I haven't done since I hooked up the new monitor) and it seems like the trailing mouse cursor issue is gone, maybe a restart is all I needed?

How else can I see exactly what resolution and refresh rate I am running?

You might try "SystemPreferences / Displays" ... I think it shows the resolution and refresh rate

I went into the system report and as of right now this is what i am running:

DELL P2415Q:

Resolution: 2304 x 1296 @ 60 Hz

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Display Serial Number:

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Rotation: Supported

Connection Type: DisplayPort

Television: Yes

Also, I am reading through the replies and I am seeing differing numbers for the custom settings on this monitor, what are the best settings to get color as similar as possible to my 15" rMBP?

I currently have it set at R-87/G-91/B-96 and the brightness at 85 and the contrast at 100.

When in "SystemPreferences / Displays", holding down "Option" key when clicking on "Scaled" will alternately display 2 different text resolutions tables for a "Retina" 4K display.

Thanks for this! I was using the 'out of the box colours' and couldn't be more satisfied with your setup!

Question: Is there a way to daisy chain another one of those with my 15" rMBP ? Would love to have two of those on my desk running at 60hz.

So I'm on the latest El Capitan public beta and now I can no longer connect to my P2715Q - it just gives a blank screen. Not sure what changed, it was working previously. I've tried a different cable as well but no luck

Any ideas?

I'd imagine you could use the displayport out on the first monitor to the DisplayPort in on the second monitor? Not too positive as I only own a single external display...

However, with DP1.2 you would be stuck with either 1X 4K@60Hz or (daisychained) 2X 4K@30Hz as a maximum through one cable.

Thanks a lot for clarifying.

Anyone found the perfect settings to resemble the original macbook retina display (colours) ?

Just got 2715q yesterday. It works brilliant out of the box with my late 2013 rmbp (non-dgpu) running mavericks. I tweaked the colour profile to match my mbp. And it's running at 60hz.

Excellent monitor! My eyes are happier now!

You're welcome! I found R:92 G:92 B:100 to resemble colours of my Thunderbolt Display the most. However, mileage may vary; every screen can be different. Just play around while having both screens next to eachother with similar brightness

Would you mind sharing your colour settings as well please? ;)

Having some trouble with my p2415q today.

Went to turn it on today in DP mode and it just says entering power save mode and goes blank. When I plug an hdmi into my MacBook and connect through that to the monitor it works fine though.

Is there some kind of fix for using a mDP to DP cable that will fix this issue?

I was reading about having to enable mst but I can't access the DisplayPort menu on the monitor if it doesn't have a source going to it.

Edit:

Read on the apple official forums that maybe updating to the newest beta of El Capitan might fix things, going to investigate when I get out of work tonight.

Edit #2:

Got home, gave the monitor a hard power reset and everything seems to be working normally. Has anyone else had to do this to their monitor to get it working correctly?

I'm assuming you have a 15" rMBP and no the 13"?

Also: anyone here who can share how to get 52hz on the late 2013 13" rMBP?
