As a bonus, I've attached the three other wallpapers I used while making the mockup before deciding on the grass/sky one. Some might prefer these:

My take on the new iOS 9 logo and tagline. I think it will be very clean and simple, focusing on making the OS cleaner, more secure and paying attention to "every detail".

Thanks, Sebastian :)

Am I the only one hoping that they stop with the numbers...

Bring the software all to one name, since they all seem to work hand-in-hand.

Made in Keynote, don't judge... hahaha

Well done. My only criticism is that it's "OS X" and not "OSX".

However, I like this - the tagline, the images and the name. I could really support the unifying of the names for OS X and iOS.

My though has to do with the comment about stopping the numbering. I understand where you're coming from, but I think the numbers are important, especially in terms of keeping order. We may all recall that the sequence of the "California era" goes Mavericks, Yosemite, and whatever they call OS X 10.11. But how many of us can recite the "big cats" in order off the top of our head? However, everyone can agree that OS X 10.1 was followed by 10.2, 10.3, etc. Just my opinion.

Again, well done on the concept.

Kodiak, Cheetah, Puma, Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, Leopard, SL, Lion, ML :p

It takes a special type of geekiness to know that off the top of your head. It's quite sad really.

I'd quite like iOS to gain code names as the numbers get bigger - in the next few years, we'll be getting numbers which don't exactly roll off the tongue: iOS 11, iOS 13 etc are a bit of a mouthful. Though I'm not sure they should be the same as the OS X name - that suggests a deeper unification and could cause confusion. Why don't they pick another series of names and use it for iOS? Maybe a landmark from that year's OS X release, for example could've been OS X Yosemite and iOS Half Dome.

Another idea. Hopeful for a dark theme!

I'd really like a night mode - I think we saw glimpses of it in iBooks, though I'm not sure how much work would have to be done across the OS and third party apps for it to be possible.

In the mockup, have you tried reversing the absolute black and the dark grey? They just look a little bit 'off' to me, especially Settings. I think if the content was dark grey and the background was black it may look a bit better. Though I could be completely wrong, as I'm trying to construct what it'd look like in my head!

Yeah that's a good point. I was looking at the Apple Watch which has mostly complete black. But looking at iBooks, it is different shades of dark grey. I took the colors from iBooks to make this. But iBooks doesn't have those separator bars so I made them black. It's kind of weird having 3 different grey but I didn't want the separator to be the same as the menu bar above it. But, in the normal white theme, the menu bar is a shade between the two so I guess it's consistent. I also tried Contacts.
