Anyone managed to login?

Been trying for the past hour.

Yep, see above. I got in a few mins after the 2:01 (local time) launch. I don't think there's much to fret about - not everyone in the world (minus Korea and such) will be trying to log on all at once. Plus they have a month to troubleshoot and add infrastructure.

Are you able to login now?

I just tried it right now. First time failed, second time worked. If it greys out and seems unresponsive, don't force quit or give up. It's actually working to log in. I did just have some issue trying to resume my previous game, but it's now in. But I need to close out because I sadly have work to finish at work. Grr.

Still no login for me. I've been trying repeatedly since 3 :/

I have a feeling I won't get to try this beta :(

EDIT: YAY I finally got in!

Oh bloody hell, I wanted to be disappointed but nooooo, they had to go and make a really good game ! Production values are way up at the top. It's going to be close to 100% on metacritic I reckon.

Thanks for the heads up! :)

Still have to download it though, only 27% done...
Will be a test to see how well it does on a 2011 macbook air.

Will this version of Diablo allow you to host multiplayer games at home or must it be played on Blizzard servers? Then there is the prickly issue of holding onto stats and gear... :)

Just as an FYI regarding anyone who may be wondering if their machine can handle the load. I have been playing the Beta for about a week now with my 2008 quad core i7 iMac 27" baby. 2.8GHz 8GB ram ATI Radeon HD 4850 and while the graphics are not awe inspiring and overly crisp at the 3rd highest resolution, I have had no glitches, hiccups or lag issues while playing the game.

I just wish Mac had released the new MBP 17" before the D3 official release....

Barbarian is a total OP cakewalk toon.

Witch Doctor, much more challenging and fun as the Barbarian but in the kind of way that challenges your play, and not the pleasure of the faceroll which the barbarian was.

Both still fun for different reasons!

I played a little bit a few minutes ago. I dug it but have no real affection for Diablo anyways so no pre-existing excitement. Anyone tried using a controller I don't know how long constant clicking will keep me from going insane.

You dont have to be clicking. you can just hold the mousebutton in. works both for moving and for shoting. Add in the use of shiftkey and there is now way this woudl be better with a controller, and yes I have played the BG games for PS2 and a lot of other hack and slash dungeoncrawler action rpgs also.

remember your CPU is a dual core :). It only uses up 1.24 Core :).

Ohhhhh. I got it. Thanks.

Either way, it ran very sluggish. Not sure of the frames per second. Any way to check?

Also when I hit cmd+tab I could not use X-Chat Azure without insane lag. Anyway I can at least leave that open while I play.

Control + R.

I have a really odd experience with this game. It runs flawlessly on full graphic settings with no lag spikes or anything and looks as though it is running at at least 30-40fps (I can tell when a framerate is bad), but when I put the FPS counter on it stays at a solid 22fps and changing the graphics settings does absolutely nothing. I'm not sure what is going on.

Other than that I'm really enjoying it.

Going to do the impossible and see if it can even boot on my MacBook. Highly doubt it. Probably going to have to log into WinXP to give it a glimmer of hope.

Do you have vsync on? It locks framerate to certain number.. 60,30,25 i think...

Woo I beat the skeleton king with my witchdoctor.

Anyone know if our characters will stay if we preorder?

EDIT: Nevermind I found the answer. All characters will be wiped. (Good in my opinion that way everyone starts on the same level).

Has anyone else played all the characters yet through beating the SK? Which do you like best? Here are my thoughts so far...

Barbarian: I had far more fun with this than I thought I would. The feeling of smashing things is incredibly satisfying! I've tried both sexes and don't think I'd ever make another female Barbarian.

Monk: I enjoyed this, but not as much as the Barbarian. The ability to heal could be quite useful in higher difficulties. I prefer the female over the male, though the voices for both annoy the crap out of me for some reason.

Wizard: This is the character I thought I'd play first. I am not enjoying it nearly as much as I had thought. Too easy, maybe? The female seems a bit more engaging than the male for some reason.

Witch Doctor: The voice acting for this is my favorite by far, and that alone may make it the first one I play in the retail game. Huge potential for this character between pets and control. I'm liking the male more than the female.

Demon Hunter: If I don't make Witch Doctor my first character, this would be. Having two one-handed crossbows equipped at the same time and just having arrows flying everywhere is a lot of fun! Sort of reminds me of a hunter in WoW with traps. I didn't have a problem with the male, but I think I prefer the female by a tiny bit.

Had to use Vsync on my MPB, the image would shear if I didn't. almost always 30FPS

Late 2011 MBP, 6750 512mb ram 2,2ghz i7. works great even with 4 players all on high except shadows, that on medium or low. OS X not on bootcamp.

stoked!

Can other people name their setups as Patrick-Photo did?

I know I will have to upgrade though I am not sure whether Ivy Bridge will have any acceptable models or if I should save my money for Haswell. With Haswell I'll probably be buying a new Mac anyway, so I'm just curious.

Edit: How do you vsync anyway?

I have a MacBookPro 2.2GHz 4GB RAM and a 8600M GT 128M. I doubt I'll be playing this at all until I can get myself a new machine.
