another thing i'm going to add is if diablo doesn't release this year, why the hell did they offer a annual wow plan to download diablo for "free"? if mists of panda releases before diablo, and the annual subscription is over... a million customers will be angry. there also won't be a blizzcon in 2012 since there is no news / games to announce. the annual sub ends in october 2012. do you honestly think blizz will release 2 games in Q4? or delay the game in 2013 pissing off all annual subscriptions (over a million customers).

if they do not release in Q2, they made a huge mistake, this isn't about anticipation... trust me i'm not even sure if i'll like diablo since i didn't like the first two. its just common sense. if you think they'll release in Q3 and mist in Q4 a lot of customers will get diablo and skip mist, again you have a sales problem.

edit: yes i know it was a conference call that said the target is Q2 and it's possible they might fail and not reach it, but honestly... what about annual sub? blizzard seems like they're ****ing up

blizz is not the company it used to be man, they're disappointing me lately

Simple. It was a ploy to get people to keep their WoW subscriptions up. And they used Diablo 3 as the carrot to do it. So you'll still get your Diablo 3. And Blizzard will have your WoW subscription monies.

And look earlier to the pictures I posted in this forum. Blizzard told a game would be released in 1998, that passed so they changed it to 1999, and that passed so they changed it to 2000.

So do I believe Q2 2012 for Diablo 3? I'd like to but knowing Blizzard I just laugh in their collective faces at them trying to put a release date up.

Just like all the other posts, Blizzard games are all on MAC, and it was never a question of whether or not Diablo 3 would be. I will go with some sort of ranged class, not sure yet though.

'Net connection always required

Since I've always looked at Diablo as a game I play by myself, the Auction House stuff doesn't really bother me--unless, of course, being unable to buy an item without paying real money makes it impossible to complete the game--which I think is highly unlikely.

What does bother me is that even for the single player game you need an internet connection whenever you play. I have fond memories of playing D2 for hours on a transcontinental flight (both out and back). If I have to maintain an internet connection to play, even single player--essentially offline, then that will NOT be a possibility with D3. And, if my ISP is down, so is the game I paid good money for. :( Not a nice way to treat paying customers, Blizzard.

All of the above notwithstanding, I'm still eagerly awaiting the release of D3! :D

I've personally gone back and forth about this in my head. I think "Really -- who doesn't have a constant internet connection these days?" and then part of me thinks of random times when the internet is out or some extreme situation like yours being on a flight.

I dunno, even Steam allows an offline mode to some extent. Maybe D3 eventually will.

Blizzard fan attitudes
According to what I have seen experiences myself and been told from the Diablo 1 release to now.

Before X Blizzard game is released

Blizzard: This game beta will have these changes.

The Fans: What how dare you change this. And I can't even try this without a beta key. Rage rage. And now I can't even post on your forum because I spoke my mind. Rage rage some more. I vow never to purchase this game because of this. Yet more rage.

Release date of X Blizzard game

Computer game store worker: You know Blizzard they spend ages and ages and make games that these days are all about money making and for casuals and forget their actual dedicated fanbase. And don't ask me about the games geesh . . . .

This who signed up for the one year subscription to get Diablo III for free will still get it even if Diablo III releases after the year is up.

Having said that, I think that Soon™ for D3 will be late Q2 to early Q3.

I think you overestimate the computer store worker. When I bought Starcraft 2 collectors edition they told me that the game wouldnt work on my mac and that I needed a PC. I wouldn't buy anything from them unless it was significantly cheaper than elsewhere, may as well be shopping for games at Tesco.

I agree 100%. At one store he said we sell PC games only. Not icky Mac stuff. So I politely showed him the Starcraft 2 Mac requirements on the site of the box. That shut him up.

I'm the same though. I only buy from those places if they are cheaper. I like to be loyal to the good stores.

Very occasionaly they have great trade in offers too, I got £33 for MW2 about 3 months after release and since I didnt play it online that trade in basically got me a brand new game.

GAME in the UK had the SC2 collectors ed for £60 which was the cheapest so I checked them for diablo but its £70 everywhere it seems!

I just checked out the system requirements, I'm right at the recommended specs, any idea what type settings I'll be able to run?

And the other thing, is that you will need to be online to play solo. In Diablo II, I never played online, I hated the cheats and "impossible to kill characters". And having to have an internet connection can be a pain, specially when you really don't need it for playing solo.
This is what's kept me from getting D3. I understand they're trying to weed out pirates and cheaters, but I'd be okay with an offline character that couldn't be played online; for online, I'd have to start from scratch.

If you check out Blizzard's site or the forums, there's the optimal requirements and low powered (won't look as awesome). I meet the low powered requirements.
