Just upgraded to Yosemite and Lync is now officially broken. After startup, I click on sign-in, it appears to sign in as my contacts list appears, then it immediately kicks me back out to the signin screen.

Disappointing. : (

It does work on official Yosemite, just tested, had a call and works like a charm.
I do however use English as main language to make it work. Didn't test on other languages

Weird. Lync is working fine for me. I can even go into Preferences while signed in and it doesn't crash and throw me out.

Are you on the latest build of Lync? 14.0.9?

OSX 10.10 Lync Issue

I am having the same issue. I found an article that suggests changing the Language settings from English to English - US and then back to English. However, that did not work -- still looking to see if anyone has a solution

How to fix it

If you go into settings>languages. Then add a second language. I added Spanish. When it asks you which is your preferred select English. After that Lync works. No idea why. But it does...

I don't have the exact same problem, however I can confirm that it does not work properly. It loads just fine, connects to server, populates the contact list and then immediately shuts back down. I placed it on my production machine adn everything was working just fine with the exception of this area... Had to revert because I rely on Lync fairly heavily.

Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem that it starts up and appears to load then shuts back down again.

I did a clean Yosemite install and a clean Lync install and everything is working flawlessly. Meetings, voice, and messaging. I had nothing but issues through the betas and tried every fix including the alias and language tricks. The best I got to on the betas was sporadic functioning.

gestaltSystemVersion returns 10.9 not 10.10 with Yosemite

I get an identical error now trying to run Civ III on the officially released OSX Yosemite. Did anyone find a work around for this in the end?

Lync Connection fix

This was posted on Microsoft Community and worked for me. Be certain you read the instructions thoroughly and make the language change 2Xs; reboot each time.

Likely Resolution:
Make sure you have all Mac for Office updates and are running the very latest updates
Go into System Preferences and select Language & Region
Change the language from "English-Primary" (or whatever the language is set to) to "English-US" (look for the English-US option and drag to the top of the list to make it Primary)
Reboot
Go back into System Prefs, Language & Region
Change the language back to "English-Primary"
Reboot
Open Lync and you should be able to log in just fine this time

I had the same problem. Adding Spanish and selecting English as primary worked. Who designed this flaw?

Yes it works, now!

Thank God for whoever originally found this solution!

I have one Macbook Air 11 inch with the Beta 6 version of 10.10, Lync working fine on that one -- go figure.

The other MacBook Air 13 inch with the GA release. Lync was broken. Wasted several hours on it before stumbling upon this thread. Applied the Language maneuver. Now working!

It worked!?!?!

Well, I just want to report that in my case this solution worked perfectly, even if I didn't have any hope and it doesn't make sense to me.

- Before installing Yosemite, Lync worked.
- Just after installing Yosemite, Lync seemed to be able to connect and then disconnected immediately. (Since I had the option to remember my password checked, it did this cycle until it locked my account... but that's another topic). Closed Lync.
- Using System Preferences, Language & Region, I added a new language to my mac (ENGLISH US) and made it primary. Rebooted.
- Attempted to launch Lync. Still didn't work.
- Using System Preferences, Language & Region, I removed the new language, reverted to my old primary language (ENGLISH). Rebooted.
- Attempted to launch Lync. It works.
- Confused.

Anyway, thanks to everybody who posted this solution. You are the reason there is hope for the web. :)

Lync 14.0.10 (141024) and OXS 10.10 still cause problems

The "language fix" worked for me with Lync 14.0.9

However, after the 14.0.10 upgrade arrived, Lync now crashes *most of the time* whenever I try to do anything in the main window. Clicking a contact, trying to start a conversation, etc. All crash with the same EXC_BAD_ACCESS exception.

Anyone have other suggestions on how to workaround/fix this problem, short of just waiting for another M$ upgrade?

Latest 14.0.11 from April works yet on 10.10.3 are still some issues.
After Lync starts or logs in after wake from standby it causes configd or kernel_task running with ~20% CPU usage for few minutes....

Yes I have seen this also. I have to stop and restart Lync to stop it from causing the kernal_task usage.
