We had one here. Too narrow. Screen wasn't that impressive. 8+ form factor better (although that phone is too heavy).

Returned the X. Don't miss it for a second. Not even looking forward to the "X Plus" at this point. Face ID was too slow.

No regrets, that 14 day return policy is a real blessing. Glad I tested it, but the screen ratio is way off, getting to the control center involved stepping on a ladder to drag down from the top. I did like all the other gestures, though.

FaceID worked flawlessly, I really liked how easy it was to enter logins on web sites. The confirmation with the side button for buying apps felt really weird for some reason. And don't laugh, I miss tap-to-wake on my 8+. No idea why that has to be a top-of-the-line feature only.

Sure but to get .00000000000001" larger screen real estate you have to lug around a ginormous phone... PASS

That's an exaggeration. I had the iPhone 6 and 6s but went with the 7 Plus for a whole year and I quickly adapted. I never had any complaints about the large footprint up until a week before getting my X. I was convinced the iPhone 8 Plus screen would fit inside the X and it's a big lie. The keyboard buttons are smaller and content appears smaller too. Everyone's different but I think we can all agree 16:9 is way better than the narrow ass aspect ratio of the X.

Not an exaggeration at all.. Look at them side by side. One is a large old looking dinosaur and the other is sleek and modern. Almost the same usable screen size in a much smaller form factor. If someone digs ginormous phones then cool, I won't hate on that but there is no way, no how I could lug around a Plus after using the X for a while. None, nada, zilcho...

Nope. 3 months in and a 6s is hard to pick up. No going back, unless of course my X breaks. *knocks on wood*

I most certainly did, I tried to X transition and it lasted a short 7 days, I missed the over all feel and sturdiness of my 8+ that I’ve grown accustomed to since the release of the 6+ many years ago, so in turn I’ll be patiently awaiting for the 9+ or x plus or whatever 6.5 inch iPhone is next to come !!

Actually, costed me $1,319 in Canada. I couldve now bought the Galaxy S9 here for cheaper at $960 or the S9+ for $1100.

You can get the s9+ for under $500 if you have an s7 laying around for trade-in. Otherwise, I saw a few s7 on CL for under $150.

I don’t. I think it was the best phone out there when it was released and still is the best phone even with the Samsung S9 series out there now. I appreciate Android devices and OS but I feel that iOS is better and the best phone on iOS is right now is the X, all IMO of course.

No regrets and overall I’m happy. The camera on the new Galaxy looks like it could be a game changer though.

I agree. Smart phones are expensive enough today where the consumer needs to ask themselves why they want to upgrade. And the most popular feature on any smart phone is the camera, Which can be enticing being how we all take pictures. I think the S9 and iPhone X camera comparisons will be interesting to see.

I heard the notch is going to shrink for this year's line-up.. won't be surprised if the iPhone X+ will cost $1,200 though

I was in the fence about the X and just sticking with the 8+ but after making the jump I’m never looking back.

While it does seem the most popular feature on a PHONE is the camera, LOL, the most important feature on MY phone is, wait for it,

the phone.

Love the edge to edge display and the way they cut into the top bezel either side of the cameras so that they could push the service icons up out of the usable area. Much better than having the bezel run the full length of the top of the phone meaning the service icons would have to be pushed down below the cameras like on the Galaxy S8/9.

All the gestures work well without the home button and I plan to stay with an edge to edge display going forward.

I still don't think the X (or any smartphone) is worth 1k though, and based on the rumors for this years iPhones (and after seeing the S9) I will probably be staying with the X for a while rather than slight yearly updates. Unless of course they offer something big like a massively improved camera or some other incredible feature that makes it a must have.

I love it but I want a touch ID on the back or under the screen. I find a few annoying times that FaceID does not work for me. For example, conferences (trying to hold phone under table), trying to view some quickly rolling over in bed in the morning, and when I have it magnetically connected to my car vent. Yes you could say, I should not be using the phone while driving but sometimes my destination changes while I am already driving (waze).

Other than that, great phone! Can't wait for the plus X this year!

8+ is a tank, not a dinosaur. For now I will take the tank over the first gen sports car. It needs to mature a little bit further...

Since the X never offered anything to really entice me... no regrets on not getting it. Yes, your implied cost/benefit argument came into play when choosing whether to or not to upgrade. Ultimately, I voted with my wallet.

And that’s what you have to do, is ultimately decide with your own money if something as expensive as the iPhone X suits your needs. Smart phones in general are more expensive than ever and consumers not upgrading as often being that their current smart phones likely everything they need them to.

And as the thread title states, I think there are some who spent more money on iPhone X than they were willing to, and they realized the euphoria wore off and their previous iPhone did everything almost the iPhone X can, with the exception of Face ID, the new form factor, OLED display, etc.

I decided to preorder the Galaxy S9, which has the same screen size as the iPhone X but better aspect ratio and no notch

Absolutely no regrets. It is by far the one device I use the most. It has replaced nearly all my other devices except my laptop. I used to even have an iPad, but even that got to be too much of a pain (too big and unweildy for me). I've truly enjoyed having the iPhone X as it's just the right size with just the right screen size.

No regrets here so far
My case is unique. Used to be a big iPhone guy till 5S. Then moved on to bbQp and windows phone. Loved the windows mobile for a couple of years and then that platform died.
I’m a phone addict and have tried every android phone there is including pixel 2 and XL. Can’t use any of them for more than a couple of weeks.
So sold my pixel 2 xl and for about $150 CAD more got a new iPhone X. Loving it so far. It’s been 2 w eke and not bored with it yet. Love the size and speed. Still miss the google now and maps. But overall pretty pleased.
