Droid X is only .47" taller and .27" wider, I'd hardly call that a monster.
Personally I think they did a great job of making it compact for a smartphone with a large 4.3" display. Makes the display on my iPhone4 seem tiny.

Well in that case, not all of us can wear baggy jeans to work. Some of us have to wear slacks and don't want a bulging device in their pockets

It would be funny if Apple increased the size of the screen and overall phone for iphone 5
A half inch taller is a lot when considering my Vibrant is already bigger than my iPhone is and makes IT look small.. I wouldnt want to go bigger and have a brick in my pocket. But thats just me. I dont mind the bigger screens but i dont want an overall huge phone.

But sorry, that X is just too big for a phone that goes in my pocket. I would think Apple will make their screen at least 4" next year but doubt they will go the overall huge route.
I personally don't mind the droids. Heck anything out there that give each company competition can only make the respective next gen phone even better. But since I was already with AT&T my choices are limited. I am completely happy with my service and don't see the need to switch just because something else came out on another network. For me, I like the ease of the phone synching with the stuff I have. My friend has an incredible and really likes it. To each their own I say.

Ditto. I think the Droid X and the Evo 4G are a wee bit too big for my taste. If I were to hop and go to Verizon, the Incredible would be the one I would get right this second. I would, however, think about getting the Samsung Galaxy S phone that is coming for Verizon though. I like the AT&T Samsung Captivate and don't mind the implementation of the 2.1 UI that they got, although I do like the Sense UI.

Yes, notifications are better on Android. If notifications were all that important to me I would probably switch. I guess the superior camera, video, music player, email client, apps, size, video chat are more important to me than notifications.

In fact this is the very reason why I'd like to see Apple offer two models. One the exact same size as the current one, and one with a 4+" display and SWYPE keyboard. That would sell very well in my opinion.
Verizon sucks! If your in a phone call, you do not have internet access. This alone rules out me ever going to Verizon. I like to be receiving E-Mails, browsing the internet etc... while I'm in a phone call.
Nah I really don't want a device that big, it isn't a question of disliking Android (My last phone was a Nexus One and I loved it) but I think the Nexus and the iPhone are the best size for my liking.
The size thing is completely an issue of preference, and there is rarely any accounting for taste.
That being said, none of the fan-boys ever complained about the size of the 2G/3G/3GS, so the fact that the DroidX is "OMG SO GINORMOUS" all of a sudden says a lot about their lack of objectivity.
There is a lot to be said for a device being compact. Coolest thing about the RAZR phone was how easily it slipped into your pocket. However, picture viewing and watching movies is always better on a bigger screen.

a smartphone and a tablet device are two separate categories of devices. Your point is moot.
That is up for debate.
I just don't get why people have to have them look at items only their way. I tried the samsung captivate and for my own reasons wasn't for me, but it sure doesn't mean Android is awful. Just was not for me. But I sure dont look down at Android users. I respect they made a choice that was good for them, as I did for me. My happiness doesn't require their approval as I'm sure neither do they need mine.

I have an iPhone 4 and a Droid X and have developed both Android and iPhone apps.
You are mistaken or more likely you just don't know what you are talking about. Android apps do have to be written to take full advantage of multi-tasking while remaining stable and preventing one app from affecting other apps. Check the Android developer docs. Poorly written Android apps are the main reason behind poor battery life and app crashing in Android. I see many more apps crash in Android and this is a major reason why.
Apple's multi-tasking is certainly not just a task switcher and is the best available compromise to maintain good battery life. Much more thought has gone into it than Androids Linux desktop OS based methods.
Exactly. A few years back I bought a 32" lcd tv. A guy in the store looking at some sets near me chuckled and told me that it was stupid to buy a 32" screen and that I should buy a 60" since it wasn't THAT much more expensive and 32" was way too small. He was rather smug about it.
I really didn't care what he thought. At the time I lived in a studio apartment and the distance between me and my TV would have made getting a 60" ridiculous. My reply was simply "in my studio - that 32" is going to look like a 60""
Just because one thing is better for someone doesn't mean it's the same for another. And people make WAY too many assumptions about their "fellow" purchaser and look more the idiot for it.
