I've had my XR for about 3 weeks now, it's a good phone.. and that's it. I'd say it's worth an upgrade over a 6s or 7, but compared to other smartphones on the market.. there's no "wow" factor for me.

iOS is iOS whatever iphone. At least this gives you longer term stability and upgrades.

Meanwhile Samsung, Huawei and other brands are really ramping up the next level of changes in hardware (folding devices, all screen phones, dual screen phones, advanced cameras etc) while other manafactuers are bringing iphone build quality at lower price points - I think this may start a bigger shift away from iphone as people seek a new thrill or more money in their pocket.

I went from a 7s Plus to a XS Max. I love the Max! The screen resolution is awesome and the camera takes some great pictures. To me, those two things make it 100% worth the upgrade. If the next phone has 5g it will be really tempting but I doubt it will come that fast, plus sometimes waiting until the second phone with a new tech like that is better. More time to work out all the kinks!

I had heard rumors about Samsung implementing of folding phone, but even if that is true, it will include a high-price tag and it’s likely for a very for a niche demographic. I think the current form factor for smart phones is the staple for quite some time, and even if something does change with how smart phones look, it doesn’t mean everybody will gravitate towards that new design.

For example, remember when Samsung released the ‘Galaxy S edge’ years back, where the info can be displayed on the side of the display, that was not very recepted and it was short-lived, it was However, very unique in its own way, but rather forgetful.

Folding phones are coming in force in the next two years. Will its agreed the first Samsung folding phone will be super expensive and made in small numbers it is the start of a new form factor. I for one am excited as I use my iphone like an ipad so a device that turns into a tablet is a win for me. That said - never buy gen one!

More then disappointed.

I'm happy with my XS Max. I've always had two lines and this is the first iPhone that I've bought one for each line since the 3GS days. I also got a glass Zagg screen protector for each one and Apple leather cases for each. I put my Note 9 in a drawer this morning.

I picked up an XR in a store and was immediately struck by the thickness and weight. Was gonna upgrade my X for one, mainly for smart HDR, but the size alone makes it a pass.

If the XR screen was inside a 7/8 size frame I probably would have upgraded. Not necessarily disappointed as I’m sure for most people it will be fine, just seemed huge and thick next to my X and Pixel 2.

Yea, Apple finally listened and put a bigger battery in that actually outlast the iPhones that came before it.

Who is disappointed with all the new features of the iPhone Xr / Xs / Xs Max? Any of you thinking about waiting for next years iPhone or possibly trying out the new Samsung S10 in February 2019? Or how about even trying a Note 9 or another phone? I am currently on a 7plus and possibly considering keeping it for another year or so. Thoughts?
Only you can answer this.

People have so many views when it comes to smartphones, & with the 3 offerings from Apple this year, there are many positives & negatives for people considering any of them. Do whatever suits you...You don’t need anyone else to instruct you. Make your own decisions/mistakes & live by/correct them...

After returning my space grey XS to the apple store (due to scratches in the PVD coating from beginning on) I have my silver XS since one week. Great device, absolutely love it.

Recognized just one thing: The „click behavior“ of the power button/side button is not 100% evenly. The upper part is more firm/clickier than the lower part which is a little bit mushier (but still clicking). Does anyone experience the same?

Yes, it’s minor and I am not planning to go for an exchange but am just curious how common this is.

I've had my Xr since release day and I've not had any issue with it. I think the screen looks great, the battery life is just freaking amazing. I think much was made to do about nothing when it comes to the screen resolution as I've watched many videos and even being less than full HD my old eyes can't tell a difference. I see no issues with fuzzy or blurry text. I have never had a single moments regret in my purchase of the Xr and return of the Xs Max. No ding on the Xs Max I just looked at features vs cost and decided I was sufficiently happy with the Xr and $450 and/or $500 back in my pocket 128gb Xr vs 256gb Xs Max with Apple care.

I will say this I did invest in Perfect Browser due to the smaller text and Apple's stupid restriction on changing text size in Safari. I've come to appreciate Perfect Browser and it does allow me to change text size when needed.
