Explorer has 4 dots in the face to indicate cellular strength - will likely be a Series 3 feature, if not Series 3 LTE only.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. WOW. As if I couldn’t get ANY MORE pissed off with Apple! Jesus Christ. I was going to buy a new AW to replace my series 1 but if they’re going to pull this crap, releasing 3 new faces every year and then restricting the ones that are actually nice looking, regular watch faces to the newest, most expensive model I’m taking my money elsewhere. The crap they do like this, the decisions they make are just infuriating.

So I've pre-ordered a Series 3 SS to replace my first gen, but I have no intention of activating it on cellular since I refuse to pay an extra $10 a month for something I never use. It's bad enough Apple didn't offer a stainless steel model without LTE. I wonder if the "Explorer" face will still be available on Series 3 if you don't activate LTE?

Yeah I think so. Just might say something stupid like “no service” where the dots would be.

Wow. You gotta give the Apple marketing and design team huge kudos. Think about this: What is the one way to ensure you will never get as close to frame-to-frame (12, 3, 6, 9) circular watch dial? Exactly, put the red notification indicator above the 12 o'clock position. How clever... You want that full-frame watch face? Well, of course! Apple has the uber expensive Hermes face! (Not like they can't relocate that notification to another location, like the Explorer Face's signal strength indicator...)

Yeah, rant... I mean, EVERY dial face is the size of a freakin nickle because Apple put that tiny, pin-point red notification alert ABOVE the 12 o'clock position. ENSURING none of those dials can ever increase in size. (You can double tap and enlarge the screen graphics and then attempt to center the graphics but, c'mon, apple...) C'MON let use full-frame CIRCULAR dials on all the round faces Utility, Color, etc.

Watch face store is definitely high on alot of peoples wish list.

But i think apple doesn't want one, because they can sell new watches by making them only available on the new watches..

It's disappointing; I don't want Toy Story watch faces; mickey mouse was bad enough.

I'd like to see mature, elegant watch faces.

+1

And some low power always on faces so I don't look like I'm wearing an uncharged screen on my arm..

There would be less demand for a watch face store if the existing ones were more customisable. For instance modular, time can only be top right, in hh:mm and only one font; the layout is essentially fixed.

They also managed to spoil some old faces.

I use Astronomy, just for the fun of it. In the previous version I could switch views between Earth - Moon - Solar system by tapping an appropriate icon on the watch face. In the OS 5 the icons are gone, and one can switch views only from the Watch app on the phone. Didn't they think it's a bit too much hassle?

Like new colors of watch bands. Money for nothing.

But then again, this is the fashion industry we're talking about: Want the season's hot new look? Pay up. It's always worked that way.
