I leave mine in the trunk of my car and it's usually 99 - 100 outside these days. Never had a problem. Did I mention I leave the windows very slightly rolled down to let the air flow?
BTW, having any degree or going to a university has nothing to do with this. I have a phD right now - so I'm the smartest or I should say at the same level as others who have phD? Hey, that means I'm as smart as Einstein! (/sarcasm).

Zzzzzzzzzzzz........

We were in the DC area last week and at one location it was 109 degrees in the midday sun. At that time my iPad was back in the hotel in its bag. But earlier during the trip, with temps hovering in the low to mid 90s, the iPad was left in its bag in the car with the windows cracked open slightly. Just before I first turned it on, I noticed it felt quite warm from being left in the car and I wondered if I would see the warning. Nope. No warning.

How in the heck did the 24c (77f) guy get the warning?!? Maybe it has something to do with what the cpu is doing at the time. I often use aircoaster xl with 100+ segment tracks that get framerates of 8 fps on an iPod Touch and still only manage to eke out 18 fps on my iPad so I would characterize my cpu usage as above normal and still no overheating after being left in the car for an hour or 2 at a time on a hot day. Maybe I should get one of those aquarium thermostats and stick it in my iPad case so I can see what the temp is in case I ever see the thermal error.

I live in phoenix and leaving any piece of electronics in the car is almost a certain death wish. The inside temp reading in my car will sometimes get to 120 degrees farienhiet, I've seen iPods screen crack hell one summer my windshield cracked. The apple store specifically told me not to leave my iPad in the car for any lenth of time.. Not that I would any way, I can't even leave a can of soda in there
