I have it on my iPad mainly because I have already broken an 11" Pro screen and I don't like a screen protector when using the pencil so it's worth it to me for peace of mind. Also, I have it on my M2 MBA, again, peace of mind, on-site repairs, express service and so on, are worth it. I hate cosmetic damage and I am covered for that with AC+ if ever needed.

Like all insurance, it's only useful when you need to claim, hopefully never. Seen too many people get hit with large bills for repairs and I would rather enjoy my devices and use them as intended without needing to take the level of care so many on this forum do, It's insane in some cases.

To me the pain point is less the cost but rather the indecision of whether to repair or get a new model and which model to buy if the device breaks close to the release of a new model. This is not helped by the fact that iPads don't have a regular release schedule.

Also, I appreciate very much that AC+ includes Apple's Express Replacement Service.
Interesting conundrum. I haven't typically found the decision of whether to repair or get a new model that difficult when I keep in mind that a guiding principle for me generally is about being ecologically friendly. Over the years, we have built more and more of that consciousness into our habits including: composting, growing more trees, using products longer. (My partner and I have long been vegetarians before we even thought of it as an ecological move.)

I recently replaced my iPhone 12 Pro battery so it has better battery capacity. Sure, I'd like a better camera setup but I can live without one. I hope this phone lasts me many more years. Each time we throw away a device to upgrade, we are also adding to eWaste and using more resources for the creation of a new phone/device.

It's not to say that I don't get tempted. Of course I do! I ogled over the potential of a periscopic camera lens for the iPhone 15 Pro but ultimately have come to the emotional and intellectual state that I really don't need a new phone when my 12 Pro works just fine.

I've never really cared about cameras.

That said, as an example, I would absolutely hate it if my 2017 iPP 12.9 had broken and I spent either $600 to repair or $1K+ to buy a 2020 iPP 12.9 just weeks before the 2021 iPP (M1/8-16GB) was released.

I got AC+ on my 2021 iPP because I know I'll keep it for a long time. Particularly so if Apple switches to OLED displays which tend to give me migraines. I realize it's probably more cost effective to just pay the $800+tax given the fairly low risk that the hardware will fail. However, in terms of psychology, it's just a lot easier to accept the AC+ $7.99/mo + $49 service fee.
