I'm curious as to how much of the mac community hasn't yet switched to Intel.

I think it's a fairly big number, seeing as Intel macs has only been out for a few months whereas PPC has been out for a looong time.

I haven't switched yet because I've felt no immediate need to. My iBook is working fine, I'm waiting till later this year to switch.

I recently sold my Power Mac dual G5 to buy a MacBoo Pro. Every app I use is either universal or Intel only so I'm completely happy with my MBP.

i put yes because i will tomorrow. :D

and i agree with QCassidy352 - not many ppc users are likely to venture in (at least compared to the number of intel users that will!).

PPC for ME!

nope. several mac's, several intel boxes, but no intel mac computers yet.

figure it's a bit like mixing 'drinking' and 'driving' at this point.

I was in a similar situation as you twoodcc. I was going to buy a MacBook, but when they were released with integrated graphics crap, it was a MacBook Pro for me! :)

Just Switched

I've recently joined the Intel Mac Clan. And the whole Mac Clan for that matter and apart from a few of my favourite audio plug-ins etc not being universal yet, it's great!!:D

I have one intel mac and 2 ppc macs currently in my possession. The PPC macs probably end up doing more work in general (because of the dismal wireless performance on the Intel Mac Mini :( ). This is the upshot of the Intel transition really - potentially faster and more power-efficient processors that are well-suited to how Apple wants to build its computers (unlike, say a G5 being shoehorned into an iMac, dodgy capacitor and heat problems etc.). But with this comes a cost - you buy Intel, you buy Intel wireless, Intel graphics etc (the two drawbacks to this generation of Mini that weren't there when they were based on the G4). I imagine the next-gen Minis will improve, however.

Oh, and shouldn't that be "moof to you" :D

The poll is starting to even out a bit more (earlier on, it was 75% Intel and 25% PowerPC - now it's closer to 50-50). Looks like the heavy MacRumor users, who probably spotted this poll early on, have converted pretty fast :p ...

Anyway, I've got a MacBook Pro - so Intel all the way.
