I purchased mine on launch day, and yesterday just sold it to my sister for a steal. (650 for 64 gb 3g w/ keyboard, invisible shield, apple case, and camera connection kit) I guess I have buyers remorse... I am waiting for the new hopefully 7 inch ipad next year, something that is a little more portable I guess. :whoknows:

While you have remorse about not having 3G, I don't and use it everyday.

Are you talking about an app like Skype? Then, yes, of course it can make a VOIP call via your 3G data connection to the Internet. That is hardly the same thing as normal mobile phone calling and texting, which I wanted to clarify the iPad cannot do.

I really don't know if you are trying to be "highly" technical or just downplaying what the ipad can do. Of course, the ipad is not a phone. Everybody knows that. But, being a tablet with the capability of making calls for free (calls within the US) is really great. I don't know if skype is free as well, not just skype to skype but an app to call to whatever number here in the US. The app I'm using is free phone calls to whatever phone number (landline, voip, cell, etc). Look it up. At least we agree that you can use the ipad for phone calls. To a non-tech person as myself, I'm just happy that I have free calls, even though it is VOIP. Less bills to pay...

To clarify, for your sake, IPAD IS NOT A PHONE. The iPad has the capability to make phone calls and send text/pic messages (FYI for your sake, receive phone calls and text/pic messages for free as well). I don't know what you are arguing or clarifying about (cellular network, 2G/3G/4G network, cable network, or whatever network). Bottom line, I call and I text for free using the iPad.

I wouldn't probably buy an iPad... yet considering I'm a student and all but I'd love one.

It would probably replace my iPod for 95% of things. The only thing it can't do is fit in my pocket when I'm out but apart from that, it would definitely replace it.

we still use ours almost everyday, had it since launch day of 3g models.. When the newer models come out I will pick up the base model though since we already have a wifi+3g 32

I bought a WiFi one on launch and a 3G+WiFi when it launched and I don't regret it. I use mine every day and my daughter and her Mom basically share the other iPad and they're both on it daily.
