I will ask my older brother today if he ok to skip work and meet in my house for 2 hr watching keynote iphone 2019
or work late , once a year , play like american :D

A bit of a straw man argument there. Absolutely no one is saying that you should never take time off work. Everybody's jobs, and priorities, are different.

I'm a teacher. Next week is only the second week of school. I'm still getting to know and form a rapport with my students, set the tone for the semester, establish routines, etc. Am I going to (falsely) use one of my sick days (we don't have vacation days during the school year) to watch what's effectively a long Apple advertisement, especially when all of the highlights and information will be available online afterward?

Life is short. Work isn't everything. But I personally feel that shirking my responsibilities for something so trivial is selfish. That's just my 2 cents.
Obviously your situation warrants not taking the day off. I also have a large project that is going live on a Wednesday so I wouldn’t take Tuesday off either. My comment was in response to the people who said things along the lines of “Lose money to stay home and watch the event?” as if it were absurd to take a day off for personal enjoyment.

I don’t even believe I am using straw man here, but rather was responding to straw man. My comment essentially said there is a middle ground between working all the time and not working at all, and there is no definitive perfect number of hours someone should work in a week. I actually feel that both the initial comments against taking the day off because it means losing money, and your comment saying it’s an important time of the year for you are taking arguments to the extreme. Yes not everyone should take the day off, but yes it is okay for some people to take the day off.

I will loose 90$ a day to watch excited event , and i understand work all life not only 1 day , so no problem for me :)

But I think you're overlooking that fact that the people saying this presumably do have designated days off, ie. weekends, holidays, scheduled vacation, that don't cost them anything. Many people are not in a position financially or professionally where they can afford to take off additional days for something trivial, so it seems a bit flippant to me to say things like, "It’s okay to take time off, guys." It's just not that simple for everyone.

‍I don’t know why I engage people like you who clearly don’t read. They didn’t say they couldn’t arrange to have the day off, they said they didn’t want to lose money:
Lose money to watch a apple event? No way.

I read just fine, thank you, but you seem to have an odd understanding of how employment works. They obviously can't arrange a paid day off. Maybe they can arrange an unpaid day, but hence the not wanting to lose money.

Your remark of, "It’s okay to take time off, guys" is still baffling to me as a response to not wanting to lose money, especially when it's estimated that almost 80% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck.

Interesting. Surprising to hear these comments. I have a flexible schedule and while I rarely purchase brand new released products and have never preordered things, I have scheduled my work around every keynote for over 8 years. It’s developed into a tradition of sorts for me - even the boring events.

as far as this event, my hopes aren’t sky high, but I think this event will hold more surprises or aha moments than the last few years have. I mean, there is a lot of speculation, but besides a wide angled lens, no one has given reasons for larger lenses and the triangle shape of the camera with any real authority - there will be an aha moment there. The Apple tags - interesting to see how that works. Possible OMT moment. And these are things we know about... usually there are a couple very important details, no matter how small - that make a big difference that I like to hear directly from Apple instead of getting some macrumors slanted hate/worship that may color my opinion.

YMMV

No, but if I order the new iPhone I will have to stay home or make sure someone is home so it can be delivered.

I don’t take the day of the keynote but I do take off launch day. I have to be at home to get my device. My delivery normally comes around 2pm.
