Same here.Whenever I call Apple support, which over the past few years has been a lot more times than I would like, the reps would often make comments about my @mac.com address, basically pointing out that I have been using Apple products for a while.
I had an older sales associate who made the comment, "...old school, huh?" and laughed about the fact he still had his...mac.com address but almost never saw anyone else who did.

This is basically my experience when calling Apple support.
Same here.
I had earthlink also, until 2002 I think.I called AOL to switch my internet connection to Earthlink waaaaaay back in the day
Going from dial-up to broadband was magical. Haven't felt that magic again until recently when I switched to Gigabit internet.I had earthlink also, until 2002 I think.
It would take forever when downloading something in LimeWire. I would have multiple things downloading, and the time remaining would be in days.
I remember the first time getting Broadband, and watching those download bars fill up so quick. 1.5 Mbps was amazing.
This all sounds familiar, but I can't remember what any of it is.I'm so old school I remember the days of Bulletin Boards, Prodigy and CompuServe
This is much older than me. I remember as a teenager, the 14400 baud (I think) on my family's first computer, also my first Mac, but 1200 sounds really old.using 1200 baud dial-up modems
Many Mac users didn't want to pay a fee for dot Mac membership, which was probably high considering many other services were free.@me is my primary email. I never signed up for a .mac account.

I got it when Apple included the first year with a new Mac, or maybe a reduced rate, but either way, it was not full price.Exactly. – I also first really got into the Apple world when it was all dying out anyway, but for most of what .mac offered, I knew free alternatives at that point. Of course those were all separate individual services rather than a single integrated one, so that still was a plus for Apple's solution. Also at that point my primary income was the pocket money me parents gave me, so not exactly the target age group for monthly services, hehe.
Can you still register and get a @Mac address?
Thanks!Nope, that went away a long time back with the conversion to @me.com
There was talk at the time that the @mac.com addresses would no longer be supported and cease functioning with the conversion
However, thankfully, that has not been the case as mine is my primary email still today
