Yeah, that narrative worked in 2010, just doesn't fly here in 2018 where the big mobile carriers stopped the steep discounts and subsidies. iPhone's aren't $199 or $99 or $0 anymore. They cost real money now.
That's why the iPhone X is so special not just from a functional standpoint, but from a luxury standpoint. Not everyone can afford a $1,150 smartphone, add tax and warranty and it's $1,500 that the average buyer is shelling out. I get how it's disruptive, I get how it's upsetting that so many can't afford an iPhone for the first time. But it's time for honesty. We no longer live in a world where everyone gets the newest iPhone for less than $200, sorry. Rich people, poor people, want an iPhone 5 just stroll into your local carrier, sign a two year contract, and you've got the latest tech, those says are over.
Costs real money now. The X/8/SE eparates iPhone owners along Upper/Middle/Lower class lines now. Don't shoot the messenger.

Is that what you told your wife when you bought her an iPhone X and an Apple Watch just as a 'surprise'? She didn't want an Android if I recall correctly. Hmm. Wonder why. Can't be that she might subscribe to this evil 'vain lifestyle' now, can it? The levels of hypocrisy in your posts are reaching epic heights now.
