ive used mine for over a year (3GS and now iPhone 4) and it has failed on me about 2-3 times. i use it for work, 5 days a week. other than that, its great!

I was ironically fired from the Apple Store I worked at when I overslept two hours because multiple alarms failed. Imagine the sinking feeling when I woke up and all the alarms went off, one after the other....the alarm contributed to other tardies, but unfortunately, there were other problems that contributed to poor attendance...I would have appreciated some grace though given the bug...

It has failed me many times, but I do still use it for everyday stuff. If it's something where I have to wake up abnormally early or something incredibly important, I'll set another alarm. I'm glad someone else posted this because I was beginning to think it was just me...the thing that seems to trigger it most is some kind of event happening on the phone, such as a text message, preventing the alarm from going off...that's been my only observation so far...

The last time it happened to me I did stay up late when at an NBA game. But still if it went off then I must have turned it off while still asleep. Another thing I change the alarm sounds every so often so that I don't get too use to one. Right now I use the Digital alarm sound.

I have about 180 ringtones to choose from as alarms, I don't think I'd ever really be able to get used to any certain tone haha.

It sounds like there are veery few people who ever have problems with their alarm, other than the Daylight Savings and New Year's bugs.

Does anyone know if the Clock app has to be open in the multitasking bar for the alarm to work correctly?

I've used mine for just about a year. Only problem I had was when I had one set up for each day and after DST switches it was an hour behind and made me late but other than that it works great.

The problem I had is when the alarm wouldn't go off sometimes, rarely but it still happened probably twice in one month. It hasn't happened in a while.

Use mine 5 days a week. 4 different alarms setup. 2 of them set 5 minutes apart for an earlier time on Mon, Wed, Fri. 2 more set 5 minutes apart for a later time on Tues, Thurs.

Has never failed me for years.

I have never had a problem with the alarms, except for the daylight saving time.

I have been known to turn them off when they sound and just roll over and fall back sleep.

No, it does not. I clear out all my apps from the multitask bar every night before I sleep and the alarms still sound.

I use it 5 days a week. For the past 3 years. Never had a problem. Except for that day light savings issue which was once. I trust this alarm more than any other alarm.

no it does not, it will activate the alarm regardless, only real determining factor is your phone must be on, if it is off then no alarm will sound.

Ok good to know. It's about time someone answered this question. I still wonder why my alarm didn't go off a few times then.
