Even though I have AppleCare on my 8 Plus, I still use Apple's leather case a I just can't bare all those mucky fingerprints on the back of a naked iPhone!!

Yeah I used to not rock a case when I had the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S Plus. And even though I have AppleCare+ I can’t imagine walking around with my iPhone X without a case and screen protector Lol.

I use cases for protection because I've dropped and dented phones in the past. Plus I have marble floors so any drops I can say goodbye to the screen or glass back.

Also i can't get a good grip on the phone naked. It's slips right out of my hands.

Yes, phones are slippery and without a good case they slip right out of my hands. I also use a Pop Socket on the back to give me a better grip.

Never been a big screen protector user on iPhone, though.

It's steel structure is so much more rigid and strong than the old bend-gate aluminum 6's.

True, but now that they’ve returned to glass being on the front AND back, I just don’t want to risk it. Also, the stainless steel doesn’t look good with scuffs/scratches :(

I’ve used a case and screen protector on every single iPhone I’ve owned including my iPhone X. Once the glass screen protector debuted I switched from the plastic one. iPhones have been getting more and more expensive and even with paying for AppleCare+, I don’t want to pay for and repairs, that could’ve been prevented. I like thick cases, and pretty much anything with color.

I have always used cases on my iPhones until I got my X now I just use a glass screen protector on the front & back. If you were going to get a case then I’ve always gone for Spigen cases as they look smart are robust but also cheap
I tried that when I had the X but it was still too slippery and the tempered glass back that I applied was still not thick enough to protect that massively protruding camera bump. So I went back to using a case for it.

Most of the time I don't use a case on my X. I put on my Apple leather case whenever I'm going out somewhere that has an increased likelihood of damage (i.e, the office is safe to go naked, hiking is not)
This

I go naked with my X most of the time unless I am doing an outdoor activity or maybe traveling through airports in which case i use an Apple leather case. I have used Sena cases on my business iPhones previously so I can keep them on my belt.

I used to use Spigen type cases because they were clear and more affordable but I ended up with some scuffs on the 6/6S models where the cases rubbed on the aluminum over time. This may not be as much of an issue with the glass backed phones now.

Question: I paid over $900 for a 128GB iPhone 6s+. It has never seen a case. I never got Applecare+ for it and in October it will be three years. The phone is undamaged.

What repairs could have been prevented that paying AC+ for would have prevented in my case?

I think this is more likely the reason you use cases. Which is fine. Everyone likes what they like. The fact that a case "protects" you justifies your purchase and allows you to enjoy the above.

Yes, but I hate adding bulk, so I only use very thin and minimal ones, just to add a little grip and protect from basic bumps and scratches. Nothing that would protect it from a real drop onto a hard surface, so I avoid dropping my phone. :)

This was my issue and why I always used a case on my X. Then I got a dBrand skin. No case, no fingerprints.

Win win.

My last few iPhones have had cases, including OtterBox. I tried my 6 with no case for awhile, but it kept slipping out of my shirt pocket and getting dinged, mostly on the corners.

I really like the looks of my iPhone X, and was pleased to find a clear, relatively thin case that seems to have decent drop protection. Plus it’s grippy. Being clear, I get to enjoy the iPhone’s aesthetic. A win-win, imho.

I've used a few cases on my phone but now I go caseless/ screen protector less cause I'm going to be upgrading but I put a case on if I'm going to the gym or something like that lol

I used to go naked, but then got tired of always having to be conscious of setting my phone down on a soft surface everywhere all the time to not get scratches, now I use one of the ultra thin cases for basic scratch protection and it works fantastic for those purposes.

Always used PowerSupport crystal films for the screens (and back in the 4/4S days PowerSupport made crystal films for the back glass which I did use) back when screens were flat, have been using tempered glass edge to edge protectors since screens got curved with the 6.

Definitely use a case and a screen protector. You never know if/when or how bad a drop will be. They wouldn't be called accidents if we knew we were gonna make them.

Water damage and the glass breaking. Even though I have AppleCare+ the price to get the glass replaced for both front and back I don’t want to pay for. Even though the front is cheaper than the back I still don’t want to pay for it.

Wondering if people on the forum mostly use a case on their iPhones. Thanks! :)

I've had every flagship model since the original iPhone.

I've never used a case, I never will. I enjoy the feel of the luxury device in my hand, I like interacting with the phone directly, rather than some piece of cheap $30 plastic. I follow a few simple rules that have long since become second nature and my phone stays in perfect condition all year long. I always get top re-sale value when it's time to upgrade (like it will be next week!).

I feel like these are just obsolete at this point with all the 0.35mm ultra thin cases around. Adhesive, crummy edges/cuts/crinkles, etc., just seems like such a sloppy solution compared to a nice form fitting 0.35mm case.

I recently only started to use a case on my iPhone X, it’s minimal and does not add much bulk at all. My 4 year old sometimes uses my phone so I didn’t want to risk it. I got the Torres slim fit on amazon. I really like it.

I disagree. It's less noticeable than a case, which is the point of using a skin. If you take your time and install it correctly, the edges aren't crummy. Also, while it does use adhesive there's no residue left over if/when you decide to remove it.
