Hi,

I'm thinking about exchanging my 16GB for the 32GB 3GS, but I'm up in the air about doing so...

Currently, I stream all my music using "Simplify Media 2" and I use "Pandora"; which is great because it saves hard drive space. However, I'm thinking if I should use my iPhone as my primary iPod device too?? Do you guys use your iPhone as your primary iPod device?? Does it kill the iPhone's battery life in the long run??

A pro I see of using the iPhone as both is I will only have to carry one piece of equipment; which is great!! But a con I see is that if I stream using the 16GB 3GS my network will be used and I'm guessing "streaming" shortens the iPhone's battery life in the long run than actually having the songs on the hard drive.

And if I get the 32GB I will be able to copy my whole song library on the iPhone and play all my songs locally; which I think will help extend the iPhone's battery life in the long run.

Thank you,

At first, I used my iPod for music and the iPhone for everything else, but I quickly grew tired of carrying two devices when the iPhone was fully capable of handling the music. The reasons for the two, were battery life (iPod lasted days on a charge) and storage. I have a 160gig iPod classic so I could hold tons more music. I found I didn't need all that space for music, and I plug my phone in from time to time to recharge during the day.

Mine is my primary iPod. My entire library does not fit on my 16gb phone, but I've found that simply managing my playlists works just fine. The only issue is that for longer trips it would be nice to fit more videos on it, but I can always just delete what I've watched and download new ones.

Yup, I gave dad my 1G Nano when I got my 3G Nano, and that went to my mu when i got the iphone 3G last year, so far it looks like the 3G will be going to my mate when i get the 3Gs later this month.

I use the iPod, internet and games on it mostly, and it is my phone too.

Yes but I don't like using it in the gym or when cycling incase it gets damaged/wet. I should probably buy a shuffle but I haven't yet...

I use mine as my primary music device. I could do with more space though as even with 32GB i can't fit much video on. It's handy to have only one device to carry though.

Yep - it's one of the reasons I bought the phone. I hate having to carry\use multiple devices. So far, all my stuff fits, but even with a 16GB, I have a lot I could get rid of by simply using playlists. With that said, I eh, will probably upgrade in the next gen if a 64 or 128GB would become available.

Well I certainly can't fit all my music on my 8gb iphone. But the phone is my only other source (besides my computer) to store music.

Next time I'm getting the 32gb or a 64gb, if that ever materializes.

YES same here, I want it one device for everything.

At the gym I used to have to choose cell or ipod because I can't carry both devices around the gym. I might lose one :)

...and I think streaming music over 3g kills your battery A LOT faster. Also you don't have to worry about sound drop because there isn't enough bars etc.

The way I can make my music fit, is by choosing INDIVIDUAL songs that I really really like. I do might complete albums by some artists because every song in their album is good.

The way I use my iPod during work hours doesn't suit the iPhone.

I leave it plugged into external speakers playing music all day. I'm popping in and out my office all the time and need my phone with me. I also like having all of my music with me so the iPhone isn't big enough.

It's great if just carrying the iPhone works for you but I still need 2 devices for my needs.

i have an iPhone but still use my 120gb Classic for music. As its got a real battery life, that will last all week from a single charge! Unlike the phone i have to charge every evening even if i havent been playin music on it!

I use my iPhone as a primary iPod device for music, but I have a small nano for my language studies. It's much easier to go back a few seconds to repeat something without having to look or think about what I'm doing using a clickwheel than a slider bar.

Basically it is. It stays with me and I use it in the office. However I keep my 120gb hooked up to my stereo in the car. So I never use the iphone there.
