Do you use your iPhone as your primary iPod device??

Yes my iPhone has replaced my iPod.
That was one of the main points of be getting my iPhone. Just left me with one less object in the way ;-)

My iPhone (3GS 32GB) has pretty much replaced my iPod touch (1st Gen 32GB) as my music/video player.

I also use a Shuffle for skiing/snowboarding and working out.

Nope, prefer the clickwheel to the iPhone's interface. (plus I'm one of those "I want all my music" people and my 8GB iPhone doesn't cut it and no, playlists don't do it for me)

The only time I use my iPhone iPod is when I run, only because I have a couple of running apps on the iPhone. Genius Mix is tempting me to use it more though, shame I don't have enough space to fit all the mixes on it

Dude, you have the internet in your hands...go on YouTube/Pandora.

Yeah... cause you know the quality is fantastic

What is wrong with wanting access to YOUR music at any time and at near-CD quality?

YouTube and Pandora can't do that.

Not really, it isn't my primary iPod. I have 2 hours of driving each day, and I use my iPod Video 30GB docked in my car at all times. I use a 4G shuffle for working out, and then I use my iPhone for anything in between.

My decision to buy an iPhone came about not only through really wanting one, but because family and friends used to complain that I was a nightmare to get hold of on my mobile phone.

My iPod touch was always on me and always kept charged, but my mobile phone was invariably left at home, never charged, or ended up ignored as I listened to my iPod.

With this in mind I decided to combine the best of both worlds, and already people are happier they can get in touch easier because it's hard for me to miss their calls when I'm listening to music at work or out and about.

I'm also one of these people who is happy to chop and change my music/video content, and being honest I can't understand people who do relatively short commutes to and from work, but load a 32GB or 64GB iPod touch with 10 feature films bought from iTunes.

My Uncle is one of these people. His music collection is around 9GB, but he owns a lot of movies both bought from iTunes and ripped from his own DVD's via Handbrake. His commute from work is literally 10 minutes at most, it's three stops on the local train line ... yet he feels the need to carry around all his content. He also can't use his iPod touch at work because he works in retail, whereas I work in an office and use my iPhone to listen to music a lot during the day. It's bizarre, and I for one don't understand people who use their iPod for small commutes and nothing else, loading every piece of content onto their device.

Me personally, as long as every single Metallica album (studio and live) is on there ... I'm a happy man. I rarely change my iPhone playlist, even though my iTunes music library is 14.85GB in size. If I do feel like a change, then I change it before leaving for work, and I very, very rarely put a movie on there unless my wife is driving us up to the North of Scotland for a visit to the family, which takes over 2 hours.

Maybe people feel "justified" having all their content with them, knowing it's all at their fingertips. But I feel when the opportunity to use all the content, especially feature length movies, simply isn't there ... it's kind of embarrassing.

Well for years people have been fine with 128kbps crappy drm music. I personally prefer higher quality but most people don't care.

And what if you want to listen to something that you didn't sync?

Then listen to something else? Last time I check my library was over 120g. I like have entire albums in my library even if I only like 5-6 tracks of a 18 track album. I don't need it all. While it is a lot of work to go through an entire library what you need, it can be done and you would be happy with what you have with you.

My 16g is my primary now. I have what I need on it with room to spare.

Simplify Media then.

Simplify Media is crap. You can't listen to the music in the background if you want to reply to a text or something.

I see. Most people only care about the lyrics and how catchy the chorus is. It's sad that a lot of people don't listen to the actual MUSIC too. I like to hear EVERYTHING.

I use my iPhone for a iPod as well as for playing films. Works well, surprisingly good battery life playing videos too.

Mostly yes, I still use my iPod Touch when in the car due to the phone not charging in the car, everywhere else i use the iPhone

Yes, my iPhone replaced my iPod - that was a big issue for me. I wanted a single device...

Ditto. Hated having to carry around multiple devices. My iPhone is the epitomy of the best of both worlds.

Give and take

I bought a 32 3G and i like to carry music with me everywhere i go... but if you already have a great 120 GB classic then its nice to have all your music when taking a long trip and but with the new touches you can watch movies...

so its a toss up...

i do use my iphone quite a bit for music.

My iPhone 3Gs 32GB is fine for the iPod. What suprises me most, is that it seems like that the iPod (in the iPhone) doesn't drain the battery much. To me it seems one of the most not-draining-battery-feature :p

I have a 16GB iPhone so I have all of my "favorite" music on it and I use it most of the time. However, there are some times where I am in the mood for something different, so I have a 120GB iPod classic in my car for those times.

I end up skipping a lot of tracks when I listen to my classic on shuffle because I get a lot of intros, outros, skits, bad music, talking... stuff like that. I do have a bunch of playlists on it though and it's great for genius... so I have purposes for both devices.

I actually don't even have music on my phone right now, I have a 4th gen nano that I use in the car and at the gym

Still adapting, as I just upgraded my iphone to the 16GB version. I still have my 3rd Gen iPod (20 GB) that will probably be used with the home and workshop stereos, but the phone is the only thing I take along with me now.

I was thinking if I started burning even more music into iTunes, I'm gonna run out of room on a single iPod anyway, so what the heck.

Yep. My iPhone is my primary iPod. That was the reason I bought a first gen iPhone.

Once less item to carry in my pocket. Before it was a RAZR and an iPod 3rd gen.

I also have an iPod Nano that I use in the car, because it seems with the 3.1 update, my Kenwood car stereo's USB port no longer recongnizes the iPhone. Not sure why. The Kenwood only stated it worked with iPods, but in the past when I use to connect via USB, the iPhone said this device was not designed for the iPhone and suggest airplane mode but it still played. Now the Kenwood states NO MUSIC DATA
