A couple of years ago I used this feature to have internet access on my iPad when I'm out but like someone else says earlier in this thread, it drained the battery on my phone too much so now I just use internet exclusively on my phone when I'm on the go and it does the job plus the battery life is better this way.

I use the instant hotspot feature of my iPhone for my MBP when I'm not around wifi so I can continue to use my laptop. Its very handy, especially 'instant hotspot'.

I have iPhone X and don’t use it as a wifi hotspot.

Was wondering if this is a feature I should look into and for what I could use it for.

It’s useful for your other devices that don’t have cellular radios installed but may have WiFi capabilities. iPad on the go is one example.

I rarely use hotspot for anything.

On my T-Mobile account, I was paying for One + so I could have HD videos and Hotspot but realized I haven't used either one much in 4 months so I cancelled it yesterday.

The only time I would use it is if we had a power failure and I could easily add it back on if I need it.

I also have an AT&T account but since I can't get service at my house without using WiFI calling, hotspot would be useless on AT&T even though it's included in my plan.

I use it bit differently, mainly for my Apple Watch. When I’m at the gym, I don’t like carrying my phone around, but like to have wifi connectivity in case someone needs to reach me, or so I can stream music. I bought a mini USB Wi-Fi repeater. I plug the device into a USB power bank, and then wirelessly connect the device to the iPhone hotspot, and I leave it in my car. From the gym, my watch connects to the repeater on a separate wifi ssid. Works pretty good, range is not the best, but enough to cover half of the gym.

Bought a new repeater with dual antenna, should receive it in a week. Hopefully it will extend the range

I have all of my primary devices with LTE. Generally one of my XRs is working as a hotspot. I live very remotely (off grid in the mountains), and LTE service is my only option for internet. Because of that, I use my devices heavily for hotspots, as well as with their individual LTE signals. This includes streaming Apple Music at home/in my office, and all connectivity.

2X iPhone XR
1X iPad Pro 11”
1X Apple Watch Series 4

Using Verizon, unlimited plan on all four devices.

I use the hotspot on my old iPhone 6s every day at work with an unlimited data SIM ($15 per month). I use it to connect my laptop to a WiFi network that is outside my work’s network for testing web apps. Also use it when I am traveling and need to work on my laptop.

I mostly use my iPad 12.9” Pro at home on WiFi so when I got my 2018 model I got a WiFi only model. On the rare occasions that I do wish to use it away from home I use my iPhone X Max as a Hotspot for it. This setup works great and not only saved me dineros when I bought the iPad, but I don’t have to pay a cell service that I rarely use.

I’ve never used my phone as a hotspot as I have LTE on my iPad. However, I could see using it to connect a laptop when needed.

I use my iPad Pro and my iPhone regularly as a hotspot with my MacBook Pro. I don’t trust public Wi-Fi a whole lot and its usually faster for me using a hotspot than their shared connection.

I recently started using only hotspot as my internet connection here in EU.
Since the mobile network provider that I am using has really good plan:
21€ (24$) per month for unlimited data (1 TB priority data), unlimited sms, calls + unlimited sms, calls in EU + 10 GB in EU roaming + 100 minutes to EU countries from my home country.

My work days are 50% in the office and 50% in the field. Unfortunately when I'm in the field I still need to perform random office work.

I use my iPhones hotspot really quick so I can access a proprietary webpage that doesn't play nice with mobile devices.

Apples Instant Hotspot feature is great, I don't even need to take my phone out of my pocket.

I will use it for my iPP when I have trouble getting on WiFi when traveling. Just used it twice maybe, but never had a problem in doing so.
