For what it’s worth, I have an 11 Pro, and I feel envious of you guys who have Minis. I feel like I got stuck in no-man’s land, because I was the ideal candidate to get a Mini, but wasn’t really due for a new phone. I’m planning on replacing it this fall, but of course now Apple is discontinuing the Mini size.

Honestly it’s crossed my mind, depending on what they offer in the 14 Pro, to possibly just get a 13 Mini once the price drops after the new phones are released. That green one is awesome.
Yes do this, I'm sure they'll still sell them but for less. I nearly did this for the 12 mini, but the 13 mini has a much better battery and better screen. For the 14 you won't have the temptation of a better version!
It's an awesome phone (and the green is lovely).

Considering the latest iPhone will be another incremental update - absolutely not. Many people couldn't care less about newest model with what Apple is releasing in the last several years.

The iPhone 13 mini is the god tier iPhone (especially the green one) and will not be surpassed for years, I promise. It's absolutely perfect, and Apple isn't going to keep making them at this size. I got the 512GB version just to make sure I wouldn't need to buy another one until they release anything nearly as good.
I will be very smug and superior about having this phone long after it is discontinued!
👍 Ha! Same here. Another 13 Mini in Green.

Thus far I have not seen another green one — Plenty of Red ones though.

A great pity that Apple have discontinued the Mini line. Ah well.

I don't really feel pressure but it seems to me that having the Pro model is more rational choice for me. I don't really need anything that Pro models offer but I really want that third lens and ProRaw. Also, what I truly don't like about Pro models is that heavy stainless steel body that functions like a giant fingerprint magnet. It gets nasty as soon as you get it out of the box. I much prefer the weight and look and feel of the aluminium body.

I felt the pressure, even after buying a regular 13 in Jan and then going to a SE3 in May. Although there are reasons for these changes, I’m always attracted to the Pro Max because of the battery life and also because I have large hands. The Pro Max models just fit into my hands perfectly.

My answer is: Yes, because my iPhone 7 Plus is very slow and glitchy now. I'm desperate to upgrade - if only I can use OLED this time. I hope and pray the PWM situation is much improved this year. The standard 13 nearly worked for me. 🙏

Nope. Not at all.

Use whatever you’re happy with. I’m on iPhone 12 and will probably update to iPhone 14 pro. My partner still has an iPhone 7 because she doesn’t want to lose the home button. Each to their own.

Buying a new phone each year is akin to replacing your PC or laptop every 12 months. Makes no sense to me unless you are a phone enthusiast.

I think I'll upgrade this year and hope that the 14 Pro Max will last me 3 years, I'm not too bothered about USB C to be honest as I've just gotten used to carrying the extra cable around with me...

I’ve got a 13 Pro Max and was thinking of going 14 Pro this year but I’ve found out if I stick with th 13PM, I can save £90 a month. On this bas I’m sticking unless the 14P turns out to be a world beater

I have a 13 mini and it ticks so many boxes - small, practical, can be used one handed, light, good battery etc. It really works for me in a lot of ways.

But I always feel I'm 'missing out' on not having a Pro phone, even though I wouldn't use any of the additional features. Sure, 120hz, a better battery and a bigger screen are all nice things, but I definitely don't need them.

It's more the status of having a 'Pro' phone.

Even though it would be so awkward for me - the weight, the bulk with a case, the need for two hands, and the price premium - for some reason I still feel I 'need' one.

Is it an image thing? Do I sub-consciously think that people will think less of me because I have a 13 mini instead of a Pro? Am I thinking they're wondering whether I can't afford a more expensive phone rather than it being a choice? To be blunt, are non-Pro phones viewed as less "cool"? (ugh I feel so old putting the word cool in quotations).

I know come September, even though the 13 mini is fine, I'll still be thinking I need to buy the 14 Pro because it's the latest phone.

I know none of this should matter, it's materialistic, and most people couldn't care less, but why do I still think that way?

The right way to think about this is to pity all the folks who are missing out on a mini.

Nope. I stopped caring what other people think about me a long time ago. I also don't like trying to keep up with the Kardashians, etc. I've become a minimalist. I like it that way.
