You really have to try it. What's great is you can get it "ready" before your transaction. you also don't have to hold your phone awkardly when the contact terminal is on the side or behind the POS system because you aren't having to hold your finger on touch ID.

YMMV. Or MMMV. I had an iPhone X for a month and a half and really grew to hate how ApplePay worked on the X. It was one of the three big reasons I returned that phone and went back to my 7.

Really? Apple pay on the X is actually one of the areas FaceID is great with in my opinion. Double click the side button as I bring my phone into view and I am authenticated, then just place near reader.

I've been thinking about how the new iPads will mimic the X gestures when it already has the Dock pop-up for swiping up.

Ideally, iPhones/iPads will have the exact same gestures, but they can't, since the iPad's dock works so well.

Unless they make a full swipe up on iPad to go Home instead of the current App switcher, & introduce the half swipe up & across to access App switcher/Control Centre?

It hasn't been "jarring." It has been comical at times, when I find myself treating my other devices as if they were the iPhone X.

I don't have problems with my iPads. But I've reactivated my iPhone 7+ on a backup line, and I keep on trying to swipe up.

Jarring? No. LOL, I did keep trying to swipe up and over for a couple of days but I also though swiping down to get the control center was odd and never got used to that. Also, kept forgetting to turn night mode off since I couldn't see the moon as I can on my 8Plus.
