Hey everyone, just got my new SR MBP and I'm loving it!:D I bought a neoprene sleeve, but I'm a little anal about keeping my stuff scratch/dent-free (especially when I paid $1800 for it;) ) I'm just wondering who actually uses the Speck hard Cases and if they work well, and what color you have? if anybody has pics that they could post, that'd be awesome. (I know they have pics on the Speck site, but I'd just like to see what they look like in real life)

Thanks Much
Ace

I have heard nothing but good things about them. I don't have one for my macbook but if I decide to get a pro I would consider it due to the "dentability"

I use a transparent one on my Macbook 13" and i have to say that it is simply fantastic. I was considering purchasing a neoprene case from Incase but decided to go with the speck hard-case as it offers continuous protection as opposed to neoprene and other custom cases that only protect the MB as long as it is inside the case.

The cutouts align perfectly and there are large vents on the bottom to prevent heat from being trapped in. I would highly recommend them any day of the week.

Cheers.

Wow, I am so glad I am not the only one that think these cases look great. Thanks for posting the link to real photos. I am considering purchasing my first mac and was torn between the macbook and pro. I prefer the MB white look over the MBP...until I saw that green case. I love it. I think that just made up my mind for me :)

I had the Speck Clear for my Blackbook before it was even delivered. As I travel a LOT, the Speck's already showing the abuse that the MB would've gotten. I plan on removing it every few months and iKlearing the MB and the inside of the Speck, and replacing the shell about once a year or so, depending on condition. The Speck gets nasty so the 'Book doesn't have to.

I figure when it's time to upgrade to the next MB(P) in about three years, this one will still look like new.

As far as ventilation and heating, not a problem, the fans only kick on when I expect they should, and I run at a CPU temp of about 145F average under continuous use.

Thanks for posting your heat numbers. I didn't think that the speck covers would cause any measurable amount of heat retention. I've ordered the speck clear case for my new SR MBP.

i picked up a clear one for my 15" SR MBP at the apple store, only complaint is I apparently got one with the manufacturing problem, so i had to file it down a bit.

I just cased my white MB with a red Speck and it looks great. I cleaned the outside of the MB and the inside of the Speck before I put it on. Looks great, sorry no pics. What is really cool, the is the Apple logo on the back. I determined between this and a sleeve that this offers all the time protection and always moving around I didn't want to constantly take out of a case. So in my less than 24 hours of using it, I would recommend it.

tech shell

Do the tech shell cases fit the new "15.4 SR MBP? It only lists "15 on their website.

yeah it should, there was a problem from CD to C2D for some reason the ports didn't match up, but I think it should be fine, nothing changed for SR, I'm sitting right next to my friend who has a pre-SR book and everything's the same

But now that oyou filed it down, does it fit well? How much does it constrict the already limited backward movement of the screen?

everything is fine except for 2 things: 1) the way i pick up the mbp sometimes with my right hand can un knotch the tab that goes over the laptop, but thats not a big problem, secondly you lose like 5 degrees of movement, not that much, so its pretty good, i like it a lot.

Just a little concerned with movement loss, because I got glossy...not sure yet how much I will need to adjust viewing angle. Also, this may sound dumb to some...as this is a case, do you all just use this alone? Since the ports are exposed, it would be overkill I guess, but is there a need to carry the MBP in a sleeve if it has a speck seethrough case on it? You know, just to really protect it.
