I have film on my trackpad, an iskin protector on my keyboard, and then when im walking about just this hard shell, but for going places I have a brenthaven bag, no need for a sleeve

I bought a sleeve when I got mine just for in the mean time here. I'll probably use it just to get my $23 out of it, but I can see it both ways, it's a bit of overkill, but if anything it's just another layer of padding in case you happen to drop your investment

i currently have a black one im returning. It is ugly and massive smudges and fingeprints. Im getting the clear one I also have the ISKIN for the kb what film are you using on the trackpad?

Well since I will be using it for school mainly, I will be transporting it in a backpack. Just worried about having it in a bag with other things, getting crud in the ports, etc.

Does the iskin keyboard protector make it close the same? Seems like it would add some height. And, how does it make typing feel?

It has felt different to me. Have never typed on a cover before, but it works just great. Kind of like shoes, feels good, but needs to be broken in a little. Adds very minimal height, I don't notice it.

I was worried about crud getting into the ports, but my packs got internal cross straps, I can secure to so it sits in the middle of pack against my back, so I am not too worried (maybe a little).

Just got mine in the mail and it is a very nice thing to have. i will be posting up pictures soon. :]

Does the iskin come in contact with the LCD when closed?

I want to get one for my mbp but i've always been weary of it constantly touching the screen when closed and permament wear marks.

I used to have an IBM Thinkpad t42 which my work gave me for on-the-go, and the keybaord rested on the lcd panel, after 6 months there were a nice set of burrs on the screen where the keys touched it!

Short answer, yes

The manufacturers recommend that you remove the protouch cover in place when the laptop is shut... and I've read comments but unhappy people who didn't (also I get the feeling, they never bothered washing it) :p

You could always place a screen/keyboard shield (e.g. the shaggymac one) over it, to prevent contact between the display and keyboard cover - that would do the trick.

How much thicker is the computer with a speck case? If I get one, I will probably end up putting it into a sleeve. Just want to know if it would still fit into the sleeve with the speck case one too.

Thats exactly my question. I was considering one of the Incase Neoprene sleeve's and was wondering if my Speck'd Macbook would fit in it. Anyone try this?

I have a clear speck case on my 15" MBP and I think it's great. It has definitely helped keep my MBP from getting scratched or dinged.

Just head over to the apple store and put the speck in the incase sleeve!

I was just wondering exactly how the Speck case connects to the MBP. It looks like there are tabs that snap on, but does that scratch or wear on the MBP? Are the snaps padded in any way or is there really nothing to worry about?

For those interested in the iSkin keyboard protector, it is great. But I also use a ShaggyMac screen protector to keep the screen from touching the keys. It's a great combination.

Yea, but why drive there when someone who's already done it is probably here :D Besides, the Incase neoprene cases are custom made for the MB's so i highly doubt that the would be able to take the extra thickness.

i dont. gf bought a incase nylon sleeve/bag thingie to shove her (relatively) fat compaq presario in. fits very snug.

so you should be fine with the sleeve, as ild imagine the neoprene would stretch slightly?

incase very nice product

Thats a good question which I have been pondering about. Any answers would be helpful!

Just got my black speck in for the 15", but still no MBP (it might take awhile)
Now that I see this speck case close up are you all sure that it doesn't scratch the MBP? even on the bottom back with the sharp clips?

It looks nice, but I just wonder (maybe only cause i have never had a MBP or any Mac at that) if it will do some damage to the MBP. I can invision grains of dust getting betwen the MBP and Speck case and then if the Speck shifts at all on the MBP then it would cause small scratches!

I guess I am just trying to look for every possible way it could scratch the MBP, but really I would love to be proved wrong.

it looks very ugly to me. did you guys not buy your mb or mbp for its design and feel? I did. these speck cases completely turn your beautiful macbooks and macbook pros into regular looking laptops. that red one in flickr looks especially horrendous.

I recommend the invisible shield.

but to each his own :)

i just installed applepeelz on my 17" SR MBP. i also ordered a 17" marware sportfolio

that's all i need (for now)
