Not for me because generally we have the iOS before we get our hands on the new phones every year.

iOS 12 - 17th September 2018
iPhone XS - 21st September 2018
iOS 13 - 19th September 2019
iPhone 11 - 20th September 2019

I know that I can’t sync my iOS 14 phone with iTunes anymore so, if I get a new phone won’t be able to add my music library to it unless I buy a new laptop 🤬🤬🤬

If they do launch a new phone and I did upgrade, would I find out that the new model has a version of Bluetooth that isn’t compatible with any of my headphones ? I am so angry 😤 I can’t put it into words

No. Will depend on the hardware. Nothing to do with the OS.

Neither 2 or 3 fit.
Another choice should be - It has nothing to do with the OS. It's the lack of product and no solid dates that is taking the wind out. Heck even this Oct 13 thing is still a rumor.

I'd be curious since this is the first time there's been a major iOS release without a new iPhone, in iPhone history (not counting SE1/SE2020 which were mid cycle releases for 'Special Editions' or Product red)
This is a great thread, I there is a lot that my Pro Max can do with IOS 14, that may actually sway me from updating this year. Although, the "mini" version is tempting as I'm mainly using my iPhone as a phone lately, and using my iPad more for my internet/computing/recreation needs.

New versions of Bluetooth are almost always backwards compatible with older devices/electronics.

It's kind of weird that they haven't announced the date for the unveiling presentation yet. Nonetheless, I will be getting a new phone to repalce my X so I can dump this awful Intel modem. I just hope it comes sooner than later.

What if you do direct setup from your old phone to your new one? Doesn’t that copy the music over?

Even though I’m not upgrading this year, I think it might deflate some of the excitement a bit.
Which is weird because even if I was upgrading, I would have already been running the new iOS Betas on my previous phone.
Go figure.

Thanks. I don’t know what that is but sounds good if that would work. I still need to sort out how to add new CDs and photo albums etc I just feel completely ripped off by Apple. Thanks for the suggestion

Not when I have a 3rd year old iPhone X feeling its age and battery life.

My 2016 SE 128GB still works fine for my uses (text, telephone calls, Podcasts/Music, photo/video taking)

Maybe September 2021 I’ll look at upgrading.
