An iMac sounds like it would work very nicely for them. Although, it may be time to buy a new non-parallel port printer (you might be able to find an adapter to use though).

Replacing a perfectly good printer seems extreme...hopefully I'll find a nice elegant solution.

Well yes, that is a bit extreme, but a new Mac and a product using legacy ports do not usually go hand in had. But I am sure that you will find an appropriate solution. :)

Well, I finally got my MBP (or as I like to call it "bunnybook") ordered this morning. It was kind of a pain to order actually because the bank decided they would decline authorization. So after calling and telling them yes, I really did want to spend my money, I got it ordered. Now all I can do is pace back and forth in anticipation...haha. Let's hope it doesn't take all of the estimated 2 weeks to get to me. ;)

I have a feeling it'll be a hair faster than my G3 800MHz iBook. :D

It's kind of funny that the Photoshop will perform better on the MBP (under Rosetta) than it does on my current machine.

relax...its the bank's new protocol to ensure that the one who avail the product is really you...i got a friend in a bank and she explain that to me....its for security purposes...:)

Either way, it's kind of dumb if I have to call them every time I want to use my credit card for a medium sized purchase.

I did the same thing when I was waiting for my Power Mac G5 and for my iBook G4. :)

Not soon enough.

But you could buy a new Mac from an Apple store, provided:
1) There is a store within reasonable driving distance.
2) You do not want to customize your Mac (no BTO).

Yeah, except there is only 1 Apple store in this country and it's a 42 hour drive (non-stop) away. Plus you can only purchase ADC purchases online (you can't even call).

Oh well...there are worse things than having to wait for a computer to arrive...

Ah, that explains the absurd distance to the nearest Apple store. :)

Ya, that would suck too. :)

I never said nearest...I said the distance to the only one in this country. It would actually be quicker for me to drive to Cupertino and get one from the big man himself.

On the plus side, I just got an email saying that it has shipped. Woohoo. I wonder where it is shipping from (the tracking number doesn't work yet, so it probably won't physically move out of the warehouse until morning.)

And btw, what kind of terrible company name is "SAMEDAY RIGHT-O-WAY?" Seriously, what was that company thinking? Bob's Shipping even sounds better.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Glad that it finally shipped out for you, hopefully its trip to you is quick and painless. :)

The Great White North Eh
Congrats on the purchase!
I know all about that apple store being soooo far away
I live in Calgary, no way am I flying 4.5 hours to Toronto to go to a canadian apple store (If I wanted to go to one I'd just go to seattle), we need more than just one.
My iPod came via same day.... all I can say is I'm glad my iBook came via fed-ex. Same day couldn't find my house so they didn't deliver:eek: no phone call no nothing... called and found out I had to go pick it up for their warehouse as they would NOT deliver it to me:mad:
ended up that I got by BTO iBook BEFORE my iPod (which had 2-3 day shipping)
Hope you get a better experience with same-day:eek:

So far, FedEx seems to be the only one willing to "re-deliver" too, which I find kind of nice. I have mine being shipped to my grad supervisor at University because I'm hardly ever home...if they can't find the University, then there's something seriously wrong. ;)

I was worried that it would be DHL (if it was shipped to my house), and they aren't on a bus route, and I don't have my car here anymore...which makes it a real pain. Purolator isn't quite as bad since it is near a bus route...but both Purolator and DHL have a knack for crushing shipments. I don't know how they do it, but my theory is the lack of parking brakes in the trucks, so they just jam packages behind the wheels.

That said, Sameday delivered my replacement power supply quickly and without issue last year.

For the love of Bob...Sameday has the WORST tracking system EVER!

According to them...they still haven't received my machine from Apple (ever since Tuesday)...

Well, I don't expect it until next week...but their online tracking system sucks the cold sweat off a dead donkey's balls.

Although part of me wants it to show up today or tomorrow....a friend of mine ordered one a day after I did, and paid extra for the "fast" shipping that is going through fedex (so of course he has a real tracking number)...it'd be funny if his took longer to arrive than mine did :D

Well slap my ass and call me Charlie...the stupid tracking system updated the info...they estimate delivery on Thursday...lets hope it is accurate so I can get it BEFORE the long weekend.

*still doing the "have to pee" dance*
