Indeed. Ios7 has a long time android user loving the IOS experience. Change was needed.

Just wish we could side load apps.

I am a longtime user of iOS (every generation of iPhone plus the iPad 2 and now iPad mini) and a frequent user of android (original Nexus, Galaxy S2, HTC One X, Galaxy Nexus, Note 2, and I ordered the Nexus 5). So I'd like to think I'm not biased either direction. The OP spoke of crashing and reboots and I haven't experienced either of those issues (and I've had iOS 7 installed on both devices since beta 1 developer edition).

I also dont understand the complaints about iOS7. There were a few minor bugs with 7.0 (that I never experienced), but 7.0.3 seems to work pretty well for everyone. Again, I dont understand why people are saying that iOS7 is so bad. It's not RADICIALLY different than iOS6 and below, besides getting a physical renovation, and some great features added in. Quit complaining, and switch if you want. Bashing a software that mass amounts of people have no problem with is redundant. Not many feel your pain. I also dont understand the "blinding white" complaint. That's an overreaction. I haven't felt blinded at all, but maybe some people are more sensitive....turn the brightness down.

I like iOS on my cell, and Android on my tablet. Best of both worlds!

iOS7 is pretty stable for me, although I rarely use my iphone anymore. My issue is the glaringly blinding white on off white scheme, it's the most hideous non functional color layout I've ever seen on any phone in my entire life. So much talent, development and money wasted on getting rid of the old theme they could have used to do truly functional improvements.

This is a preference. Not saying you are wrong but I love the basic solid colors. Love the Email, SMS, Phone, Music apps so much.

Apple should have given choices. Maybe offer an ios6 theme skin or something for those people who don't like the new look.

Yeah, absolutely, it's personal preference. But from a functional pov Apple should offer a dark theme, the white on off white is non functional in a dark car, or dark room, it just doesn't work. I do like the scheme, I still think it was a waste as the skeumorphism never bothered me, but it's primarily the glaring white on off white that kills me.

I can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but I prefer iOS 7 on my iPad mini a lot more than my iPhone.

My wife disagrees when she is sleeping and I am using iOS7, lol. My god, it's so freakin bright. I know about inverse view in accessibility, but unlike windows it's very unintelligent and inverses everything including graphics so it's useless.

My wife would probably feel the seem. It does turn the iPad mini into a great flashlight though lol

The more I use iOS 7 on my iPhone, the more I like it. I still don't like some of the design decisions, but most of the new functionality and refinements are great.

The iPad is a very different story though. Transitions and certain other animations look choppy on all iPads I've tried, even the Air.

Android tablets like the Nexus 7 are not worse in any way compared to the iPad, just different. Right now, I would pick the iPad Mini (retina version) over the Nexus 7, just because of screen size and ratio.
If Google makes a Nexus 8 with a similar aspect ratio, I would personally pick that one.

If I just wanted a tablet that actually functions well as both a tablet and laptop, the Surface 2 Pro would be my choice.

Nice thing is, lots of choices.

You lost me at surface pro lmao.

I realize the Surface Pro 2 isn't a big seller or as popular as an iPad or Macbook Air, but there is something I really like about Windows 8.1 and the touch interface. I use it at home and enjoy it.
Just my personal preference. Who knows, if you try it you may like it. :)

iOS 7 has been stable for me but certainly a lot buggier. But it's still new so I'm giving Apple the benefit of the doubt for awhile longer.

I've yet to use an Android device that is any better. It's just not worse anymore.

I can agree though, for Apples premium price I expect more and feel I'm not getting that.

iOS 7 was horrible on my iPhone 5. After two trips to the Genius Bar they just couldn't sort it out. I wasn't ready to give up but my phone is critical so I caved in and spent a ton of money to get a 5S. It's designed for iOS 7 and it shows. So far I've only had a few crashes.

And then there are plenty people talking about how great iOS 7 runs on their iPhone 5 while quite a few are having various kinds of issues (especially crash related) with iPhone 5S. Both phones can run iOS 7 just fine, just some people have issues of different kinds here and there.

You're right, that's what makes iOS 7 such an interesting buggy OS. After three tries the genius threw up his hands and told the manager I'd be better off if my iPhone 5 was an iPhone 5S due to some difference in hardware. I didn't hear what that was however since they were off to the side discussing it. Unwilling to give me a new phone I just caved in and bought one since I must have a working phone.

done with iOS 7

I disagree. The 5S has the most amount of bugs reported. New hardware so it's not too surprising.

Here's a new one (just searched 5S bug) and picked one.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1671846/

Camera bug, more then 5-6 faces recognized and the 5S is incapable of saving the image. Other iPhones are unaffected.

Only a few crashes? I've yet to have springboard crash on my 4S since I got iOS 7 the day it was released.

I have iOS7 on my 4s and it is fine. I still having some concerns about legibility, but otherwise it is stable.

Have you tried Settings > General > accessibility > Increase Contrast ?

Might help, it's description says "improve contrast on some backgrounds to increase legibility"

I'm reporting my personal experiences. You have yours.

Overall from what my friends & family have experienced with their iOS 7 equipped iPhones, I'd say iOS7 is a rather poor OS at this point in time. It's bound to improve as Apple benefits from our feedback, it's just disappointing that they can't seem to do any better than this.

Apple is drifting away from its first class practices and taking the easy path just like General Motors & other large run of the mill corporations.

No, they're worse in terms of apps. Phone apps vs tablet apps. iOS seems to have a better game selection too. Sometimes you have to wait months for a game to be available on android. It's harder to find a suitable alternative for games compared to other kinds of apps. My nexus 7 wasn't even compatible with some apps for no apparent reason. It's not like it was old outdated hardware.

You also can't back up your tablet and restore exactly the way it was without having to jump through hoops (at least on nexus tablets). The android tablet experience just sucks in my opinion mainly because of the apps (I use a lot of apps). I really tried to like my nexus 7, but I ultimately couldn't stand it. I always felt like I was missing out. It's been sitting in my drawer collecting dust for the past few months.

I play games on my Nexus 7 (games like Modern Combat 4, Dead Trigger 2, Asphalt 8, plus Nintendo and SNES games like Super Mario, Tecmo Superbowl and the like) and the sole reason the Nexus wins out over the iPad for gaming is because of native game controller support. (Well that, and you can't play any Nintendo games on Apple products.)

As for backing up and/or rooting a Nexus device, it is no more complex than using iTunes. You learned how to use iTunes, without deleting all your apps and music from your phone and / or library, right?

Again I say one is not worse than the other, just different.

I'm not interested in emulators or using separate controllers... So that does nothing for me.
