Too much silver and too much chin. An all black iMac would look absolutely gorgeous.

We'll just have to disagree. I love the look of the aluminum and don't mind the "chin."

who knows, maybe they'll even offer a memory card slot

Hmm...you mean like this?

Heh heh, believe it or not, this actually helped calm me down a lot. I saw that sweet new 27" display and I IMMEDIATELY hopped on ebay to see what I could get for my new '09 imac.

While an extra 3 inches would be pretty rad (don't really need more power since it does everything I want and more with all of CS4 running at once), I just don't really think it warrants losing nearly $800 just to upgrade to a slightly more powerful/bigger machine.

Still tempting though ;)
I'll probably just check out that new mouse and see how that thing works out.

Well if your like me then you are on Macrumors at least once a day.
So a month ago i slapped my 07' 2.8ghz Core 2 Extreme on Ebay 24" Imac and got 2300$ for it.
Waited patiently for a month and voila!! 27" Quad Imac!!
Got myself a bigger better computer without putting 1$ out of pocket

LOL well, I think that all of us irritated here understand everything you are saying, just need a place to vent our frustration! I realllyyyy want that new one !!!! :(

If you want it that bad, spend some $$$. After all though, it's just a computer. You already have a great computer.

Apple updates its hardware on predictable timelines. If you bought one near the end of a cycle, its your own fault.

Be happy Apple even offers a 14 day price guarantee.

Just like you'd have to be off your rocker to buy a Mac Pro right now since its a day away from its average update period. Heck, there might be an update on it next week!

I bought a 24" 2.66 on the 14th because I am new to Mac and had no idea an update was coming because I am a complete noob to mac and did not do the obsessive research as I usually do for purchases of this nature.

When I first heard of the new releases I was kindly pissed, mostly at myself. Apple was good enough to refund me $200 on my 24 and I am perfectly happy with it. I really do not need more power, storage, ram or screen realestate for my needs. If they had offered me a no %10 restock deal I'm not sure I would have upgraded even then. I feel like I got a lot of computer for $1350 I can barely stand to use my laggy old XP box anymore.

I ordered the highest end iMac 24" two weeks ago, then I went to talk to the local Apple reseller and quizzed the assistant manager. What I got out of him was that Apple had notified them that a shipment of a new product was imminent. So, I canceled my order and I'm really glad I did that now. Obviously.

very generous of the manager

You are so lucky!!! :) I am complaining, but I really shouldn't be because I needed my mac for my online Flash and design classes that started in September, I couldn't have gone without it at that time so I really have no room to complain, it's just one of those DOH!!!! things :D

how can anyone be a member of these forums and not been aware of an impending iMac refresh ? there's been a steady stream of news and rumors (not just here but all over) that new iMacs were in the works.

Haha, because I just joined today! I have used macs at work for many years but never had time to go to the forums and this is my first at home, trust me, next time I will!!!!! I don't know why I didn't even THINK about it!

Who knows, I think it's possible we see Light Peak in the second half of 2010 or early 2011. I'll be fine using my early 08 macbook to the end of applecare in 2011 then upgrade to a nice new, redesigned, light peak macbook with quad core and 10.7!

I see the Best Buy site doesn't have any iMacs, Mac Minis, and only have the one Mac Pro listed... who knows?

I'm with you, that's around when I might be thinking about upgrading and done with school. I really am thrilled to have given away my old Dell and have this beautiful machine at home now, don't get me wrong, the new one just sounds so delightful! l did get the highest end iMac they had in early Sept. so it's a nice machine for sure and I can have multiple CS apps open with no slowdown at all.

It did start doing something funky yesterday where I had to reboot and it went into safe mode! Not sure what happened, it was bringing stuff up really slowly and fading program windows out in the background when I went to quit a program from the dock (hard to explain), it was crazy! I just rebooted again after the safe mode thing and now it seems okay so far

Well, hey, I DID get a free ipod touch so :p Who needs that new mac anyway

Well you bought your iMac a month before the new ones are announced and I have to wait a month before I get mine delivered. At least you have an iMac right now. Apple has no idea when they are going to ship out the quad core iMacs. :(

I am sure it will be WELL worth the wait! :) Good for you! I wouldn't have been able to wait that long, really, so, as I said, I have no room to complain but I'm still jealous! :p

I bought a 24" iMac a month ago, but I did get $100 off plus a free ipod touch. I kind of like the 24" display, 21 seems too small and 27 seems a bit large.

Mine is 24" as well, I got the student discount and free ipod with mine so can't complain too much (though I have been LOL) It's true when the displays get TOO big it's sort of a pain to get your mouse across the screen. I think 27" would be okay but I once worked on one monitor that was at least 35" and I didn't like it one bit!

I am actually pretty upset because I bought my mac last month! My sister is upset about it as she bought hers at the same time. We were thinking they should have announced on their site at least 6 months ahead of time about the new ones coming out. Even if they didn't give specifics they could have said "coming in Oct, a new imac" something like that.

If it were even 6 months ago when I purchased mine I wouldn't be nearly as put off. It took a very long time of saving for me to get this one and knowing that a month later I could get SO much more, i.e. upgrade memory for $200 instead of $900 for 4 megs! Basically I would have paid the same $2,300 for twice the memory, 3" larger and brighter screen, MUCH better video card, sd card input, Quad Core and awesome mouse! GRRRRRR

So yeah, NOT happy with Mac at all right now for not giving a heads up to people like me who saved for months and months to get a computer that will be outdated in a month!

You're not serious with this post are you? OMG, now where's my violin? :p

You know, I have seen and experienced that most Mac people are pretty laid back and cool people

Not really. As you spend more time in this forum you'll see much meaner things being said than that. The forum has a lot of good people, but it also has a lot of kids that are obsessed with Bill Gates,Microsoft, and licking the boots of Apple.

Sell it and buy the new iMac.
