Not really. As you spend more time in this forum you'll see much meaner things being said than that. The forum has a lot of good people, but it also has a lot of kids that are obsessed with Bill Gates,Microsoft, and licking the boots of Apple.

Boot-Lickers? LOL! I haven't heard that in a while. Although I suspect you're 100% correct.

Saw the new iMacs in person this evening at my local Yodobashi Camera store.

I like the thinness and the all aluminum design. :)

Over all they look nice, but the new glass shape has me thinking twice. I liked the aluminum around the glass in the old model. The new ones basically have the glass added to the front. Also, at the bottom, the seam is straight whereas the older model had rounded corners.

After seeing them in person, I think that if I had a current 20 or 24 inch model, I wouldn't be disappointed at all. The new ones have some nice improvements but by no means are the old models obsolete.

I think if you were to upgrade to a quad-core, then maybe, but updating to regular 27" from an early 2009, doesn't make sense.

Personally I would never upgrade my 2.93ghz. The upgrades are nice but it won't mean that much to me and I personally think the smaller chin looks awkward. I do however plan to get the new magic mouse once they are released in stores.

I'm keeping my 24" iMac for a while. There's no reason for me to update right now when mine works perfectly fine and still has a screen size that's basically in the middle. I'll wait for a couple more revisions later on.

6 month wait till the update in March, 6 week wait after ordering the top-end model w/ ATI card, and another 6 month finally made me feel i am a complete loser...

I ordered the highest end iMac 24" two weeks ago, then I went to talk to the local Apple reseller and quizzed the assistant manager. What I got out of him was that Apple had notified them that a shipment of a new product was imminent. So, I canceled my order and I'm really glad I did that now. Obviously.

Your good luck to find a honest apple employe.

"OUCH" truth hurts ;) okay, I get it already ;) !

I got mine. imac 24inch on 30th sept 09 no ideal new model was on way.Reason the apple employe lied about his knowledge of any new models i did raise the matter his answer i know nothing .Like you i did not have any knowledge of these rumour mills. And like you im truly p----d off.I too would not have bought before oct20th but were told by other punters on this site it;s our fault for not doing enough research. No we were with held information so we could make an informed decision. I wonder how many people were sold the 24inch imac by apple stores after the 7th oct because they could upgrade to 27inch imac before the end of there 14 day grace.

I don't understand much of what you wrote here, but I can say I bought my 24" imac on Oct. 14th and when I found out about the new models the store rep told me I could return it with a 10% restock fee and get the newer model or take a $200 price adjustment, which I did. There was never an option for me to return my imac without penalty, though a lot of people are telling stories of this wonderful experience happening in their world. Gosh they're lucky.

Upgrading to a newer model will lose u a lot of money and don't think its worth it for me. For example, my 24" was around 2400. Right now they are going for about 1500 on eBay, so it will be a lost of 900.

Ha! My heart skipped a beat too when I saw the new iMacs, but I knew I couldn't afford one... I then saw that they updated the Mac Mini's to specs that, to me, equaled "high end"

I'm such a poor cheap-ass though, I'm probably going to just go with base model anyways. Maybe they will (I'm almost sure they will) update them before or after christmas. :p
