Thanks guys! Yupp it is 2840mah total. I saw the juice pack before but this was actually less expensive for me to build and is a lot smaller (5 bucks per battery and 5 for the back frame = $15). It is about the same size as my old plastic case and it actually feels a little smaller than with the case without the edges of the case.

I am looking for another lipo battery that is thinner and wider with about the same capacity. I also think I am going to make a new back once I get some time to go to the machine shop and maybe get it powder coated or anodized to make it look more "from the factory". Maybe even fiberglass or CF? I was thinking about making it curved like the 3GS was as well. Thanks again for your interest guys!

you might try looking at kickstarter if you want to turn it into a business. I personally don't have a interest in most cases my phone makes it though my work day with plenty to spare. I have ways tp charge it if I need too. others might like it though.

Here is the thickness against my old phone cover and the new/slightly modified case.

Thanks for the tip! I was thinking about the business thing but I don't know if it would be worth it. By the time I made enough for it to be popular I am sure there would be an cheaper Chinese version.

This is amazing....would be a good option for the iPhone 4S....only if the second battery can be made as a snap on type of ad-on with very little modification......maybe what you can do is solder the battery to a back custom made cover.....and then attach the wire from the battery to the original one....im sure you can find a thinner and wider battery.....I would love to get it if the option ever came.....

Well done!
I personally think this is amazing. Don't mind others who think this ain't original, they just mad that they can't do it. Its unbelievable to make this sort of achievement just not even a quarter of the price of the "manufactured product."
Only downside is the stacking and soldering of it, but looks great from whati saw.
I would defiantly get this if u made a DIY product of it.

Dude thats amazing!! Forget what the others are talking about your in college at the ohio state university which im sure cost a nice chunck of change!! You should just open up a small little shop somewhere on campus and just advertise you butt off!! Its alot of people that would love too get their hands on a product like this because iphone batteries die very fast and to have something like that floating around in columbus would be awsome!! Much respect to you for taking the time out to post something like that!! And 1 more thing O H....

I O!! haha
Thanks for the nice comments guys! (you guys sure are nice!! :) ) It really make me feel good and excited to know someone would actually pay money for something I made.

I have a couple mass manufacturing ideas that would let me belt about a dozen in a few hours and look a lot more professional. I will keep you guys posted!
Thanks again! :)

Nice concept, terrible execution on the back-plate though. You definitely need to re-work the design on the back. I like where you are going with this though.

Good luck to ya.

Awesome, well done, great work!

Yea, I would pay for this mod, if you don't make a business of this I hope Apple are taking notice!

Thanks! I totally agree! I made it out of an old back, a flat piece of aluminum and a piece of nasty plastic with a dremel, a hammer, and a file in my bedroom. I rushed it so I wouldn't have to walk around and have a battery hanging out the back of my phone :p haha

Tip of the hat to you, this is awesome work. Any heat issues with it?

PS keep us updated on your progress, I for one would absolutely buy one of these from you if given the chance, just sayin'...

Thanks! haha Nope it actually has been a lot cooler. I think it is because the charge and discharge current is being shared by both of the batteries so they are a lot less stressed than before.

I guess they don't ever plan to have too many sales....$129 is a ridiculous price...I bet hardly anyone bought it so far....I can see a $50-$70 price point but anything higher....is just madness.....

I was thinking selling them for 40 or shipped in the US for 50.

Totally agree. You can buy 2 or 3 battery cases for the price of one of these things.
