Hey,

I have no clue what are SHSH blobs, so I didn't save them, and don't know how to save them. Would it even be possible to downgrade from iOS 6 to iOS 5 ,and then JB my phone using redsn0w? I tried in iTunes by holding the shift on my keyboard then restore while my iPhone in DFU, and I get a 3149 unknown error in iTunes. I'm using a Windows 7 desktop PC. If this would be possible, would someone please share the details instructions on how to do this? I read I need the blobs, but would you guys say I could do this without blobs?

Thank you,

Thank you,

If you didn't save the 5.x.x hashes, blobs, SHSH, whatever various names they are called, you cannot downgrade,

Google for information about SHSH.

Thank you,

If you had jailbroken it before you went to iOS 6, your SHSH for ios 5.13 etc would have been stored in Cydia so you could then downgrade.

I had 5.1.1 before. How could I check to see if they are saved, and if they are not saved, what would the alternative way to downgrade? I don't know how to check based on your response. I rather use redsn0w to check, but I'm not sure which option? We have Snitch, Fetch, and a couple others? Could you, or someone please explain with instructions, and hopefully don't curse me out like the person above? Yes, I seen it, and yes, I saw it was removed.

If you were jailbroken on 5.1.1 you can downgrade install back to 5.1.1. If you were not jailbroken on 5.1.1 you can't.

I was jailbroken on 5.1.1, then I upgraded to iOS 6 by downloading the iOS 6 IPSW file follow by a restore. How could I get this done? I don't know how.

Download and run tinyumbrella. Plug in your iphone.
Go to advanced and select "request SHSH from Cydia"
Then click "Save SHSH"
It should then soon list all the available blobs you have for that device.
What model iphone is it?
If its a 4S then there's no point at the moment cause even with shsh blobs you cannot downgrade it if its on 6.0 right now.
Hope its a 3GS or iphone 4 if not its not going to happen right now.

It's the iPhone 4, and I don't have any saved SHSH blobs according to Tiny Umbrella.

Without them you can't downgrade no way no how. Sorry look up shsh blobs though so you might have options in the future starting with 6.0 of course.

Strange how you were jailbroken yet have no shsh stored in Cydia. I never saw that fail... guess you did something wrong.

Be careful what you advise people

iFaith only works on A4 devices and 3GS with the limera1n.

It it used to get blobs of current firmware and only up to 5.01

So no it won't work

I'm not advising anyone to try this, only asking if someone has. Thank you for your reply though, now I at least have an answer.

Now, I'm a little curious, so humor me with some more answers. You mentioned the requirements for this method to work are:
1). Have an A4 device like an iPhone 4 (it also works on the 3gs)
2). Must be downgrading to a firmware 5.0.1 or lower.

Ok, so could this work if I'm trying to downgrade an iphone 4 or iphone 3gs to 5.0.1 instead of 5.1.1?
My apologies if I'm still not understanding. Thank you

The phone must be on 5.0.1 to use iFaith to grab 5.0.1 hashes

I concur with TriJetHero.
Since you obviously have no understanding of this, presenting it for another n00b to try is reckless

The only thing ifaith did is create blobs for current firmware on a device which is no longer signed by apple.

So lets say you had 5.01 on a device but no blobs for it, ifaith could create those for the 5.01.

So no it would not let you restore from 5.1.1 to 5.01.

I used ifaith on my old IP4 to create 5.01 blobs but never used them, i had regular blobs anyway.

Thank you, TriJetHero. I really appreciate the answer, I'll stop asking questions now. Having little understanding of this, I was nervous to even ask about it on a forum like this.

Please understand that I'm not trying to make an excuse for myself by saying that I never meant to ask people to try something dangerous on their devices. I was just curious to get an answer about what would happen if I tried it.

dhlizard, I never intended for "another n00b" to put their iPhone at risk. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Think back to when you were a n00b about this kind of stuff, it can be scary to ask questions about it online. Sometimes people's answer can make you feel like an idiot (or maybe that's just me :)) Take care.

To everyone out there who is stuck on 6.0 or 6.0.1 and hating it, I know how you feel. I just upgraded my old iPhone 3g to the iPhone 4, and it came with 6.0.1. Believe me it sucks having to get used to the new Apple maps and app store. Personally, I miss having yourtube (an extension for the native youtube app which doesn't work on ios 6.0 for obvious reasons) and mewseek. At least we have a jailbreak though, that's something to be thankful for! Keep searching forums online, you never know if a solution to this problem might arise in the future.

It is just dangerous to present ideas for others to try without knowing what the result could be. In this case, the threadstarter likely does not have the experience either to avoid this.

At the risk of possibly "embarrassing" someone, it is important to make this point.
As for me, I spent many days and some weeks reading, researching, experimenting and learning before offering help posts.

I see. You're only trying to protect others from trying something stupid. That's brave; tough but fair. It was wrong of me to suggest methods that I don't understand.

Oh, and I'm not embarrassed. Still desperate, though. It's hard to deal with the loss of features and apps I'd grown so accustomed to. But hey, what can you do?

Hey i bought iPhone 4 CDMA and its on io 6.0.1 but before the upgrade previous owner had 5.1.1 jailbroken but he forgot to save shsh but the cydia showd him that he has shsh saved on 5.1.1 but now where could i get them from cydia servers?

You can get them via redsn0w or via TinyUmbrella

You can do a direct restore to 5.1.1 with redsn0w

Download 5.1.1 CDMA IPSW from here:
http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750

no go to redsn0w Extras/Even more/Restore
select the 5.1.1 IPSW

follow instuctions and than selct remote blobs

it should restore to 5.1.1
