If you do have issues, my first suggestion would be to wipe and set up as a new phone rather than an upgrade. I've run into issues with iOS upgrades occasionally before that have been fixed by doing that, from memory the last time it happened was upgrading from iOS 6 beta 4 or something to iOS 6 release.

Its more common if you've been running betas or maybe jailbroken.

They do. It's just not an issue to them.

I've had three people show me their "perfect iOS 9" install and it has the same stuttery lag and unresponsiveness that my phone has.

It's just a shoddy update.
Sometimes it's that. Sometimes it's that they don't have the same issues. Not everyone has the same issues, and some that are bugs that exist for everyone aren't necessarily things that some are really affected by.

that is wrong on so many levels, u & the usual yearly loud group will be back saying the same for ios 10 anyway, then comparing it to ios 9 that u currently hate

When I downgrade to 8.4.1 on the 4s, it becomes a laggy and animation-stutter fest!

A literal "downgrade"

I count lag as animations that suffer from low frame rates often and on my 6 Plus iI count lag as animations that suffer from low frame rates often and on my 6 Plus I've tried everything and the control centre and app switcher and when opening and closing apps, the animations 90% of the time suffer from some form of lag

I have an iPhone 6+ and there is definitely lag in a lot of things. Multitasking lags like HELL. Switching between some applications can be very laggy and also the spotlight search from any screen lags.

I don't understand why some people here just defend the issue that seems to be so common amongst many other who have upgraded. Just because you don't experience the issue does not mean the issue does not exist and BTW Apple must address this and you can take part by letting them know and not just posting on forums.

A lot of people who aren't having the same issues aren't saying that others aren't having them, they are simply pointing out that the issues aren't necessarily as widespread as some of those with the issues are trying to make them out to be. Basically extremes on both sides with the reality and many others somewhere in-between.

It's true, sometimes people say they have no issues, and then when they downgrade they can actually see a difference.

I just installed iOS 9 a couple of days ago so iOS 8 performance was still on my mind and as far as I can tell, iOS 9 is just smoother. Safari is also faster but that might be because of content blocking.

Good for you kyemaloy :)

That's the beauty of choice.

Enjoy iOS 8.4.1.

However you perceive your current iOS choice is a personal user defined experience.

Personally I've not encountered issues on the iPhone 6+ or iPad Air.

iOS 9 is super smooth for me also. I had a touch of lag straight after install but after a reboot it hasn't returned. Loving the new features so far.

Same.

Which features are you liking ?

Content Blocker for me has made Safari so much quicker and tabs don't reload as much and the ones that do reload to where I left it.

I returned to 8.4.1 from 9.1 Beta for a couple of days, and then proceed to update to 9.0 final.

I like 9.0 better, especially because I find a lot of the new iOS 9 features very helpful.

Of course I'm talking about iPad... not sure about iPhone.
