Who knows, perhaps iOS 10 will actually be a working product on release?
What software (especially complex software like an OS) is issue free for everyone in general, let alone in an initial new version release?

iOS 9 is no more laggy or buggy than iOS 8. Sorry, but I've installed it on two phones (5s) and it's fine. I understand people have problems, but good lord, this is a much better release than iOS 8 was. A few minor things need improvement or fixing, but it's decent. You guys act like android or Windows are somehow better. Every android I've had was worse.

There are so many threads about this already. Ok, we get it iOS 8.4.1 is less laggy than iOS 9. Sheesh. Why can't everyone just deal with the lag because it still works, even if it's not at 60 fps. My iPhone 6 and 5 are working great on iOS 9, not that much lag, but it works. I care about functionality over "super smooth animations" and looks. Can't wait till this time next year when people are posting on this forum saying "just downgraded to iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 6s Plus because iOS 10 has too much lagggg. blah blah why Apple blah blah." I usually don't go on rants but i'm just getting so many notifications about threads like this and I felt like I had to do something.

Well the very basics should be. Such as the interface being fluent. At a complete loss as to how they can go from perfectly slick to a stuttery mess. The messages app is basically the same thing, so how did they manage to break the animations here?

Maybe they managed to mess the animations up because it's now using Metal to render them.

I'm liking the newsfeed when you swipe right, the back option along the top bar, the keyboard improvements and content blocker is a huge improvement :)

I agree.

I would have liked to have 'slide over' on the iPhone 6 Plus as I find it ubra helpful on my iPad Air.

Hope the Op is back now enjoying iOS 8.4.1.

Good for you kyemaloy :)

That's the beauty of choice.

Enjoy iOS 8.4.1.

However you perceive your current iOS choice is a personal user defined experience.

Personally I've not encountered issues on the iPhone 6+ or iPad Air.
Is that ironic? Apple will stop signing ios 8.4.1 very soon.

Had a little jerky stuff when I first downloaded but after about 12 hours it smoothed out well. Really smooth now and overall an improvement over 8.

My gf sill has iOS 8 on her 5S and its very easy to notice/feel how much smoother it is.

And I've mentioned in a previous thread that my 5S felt perfectly fine. It's not until I could use iOS 8 again before I noticed a difference.

Exactly. Your eyes sort of get used to the lag and it becomes normal to you. Then when you use iOS 8.4.1 again, it's like "WHOA!"

Underlying changes to something can affect other things, including the basics. Aside from the fact that not everyone experiences these issues, at least certainly not to the same degree, the fact that they might be there in a x.0 release is hardly new or surprising. It's not great by any means, but it's simply realistic when it comes to software and complex software in particular.

For some, certainly, not so much for others. Went back to 8.4.1 for a bit and have another device that is still on 8.4.1 and definitely no "whoa" or anything like that, at best minor differences if any at all in my experience (meaning that certainly that might not be and likely won't be the case for some others).

iOS 9 seems fine once you get used to it, half tempted to update my wife's phone just so I don't see how much better hers is.

Seeing occasional lag in iOS 9 even in the simple iMessage animation which is not present in iOS 8.4.1.

Pretty soon everyone will forget about 8.4.1 and 9.1 will come out and people will be like "It's just as smooth as 8.4 was!" and everyone will be happy, but they won't really know that 8.4 was still smoother.

Don't get me wrong, I like iOS 9, but I just can't stand how poorly it runs.

Similar to what it was like with 8.4 compared to 7.1.

Lool, "new features". Oh yeah new multitasking which does not make any difference. Wohooo apple!!! Its unapologetically revolutionary!!
Plenty of things that various people find useful.

I have an iPhone 6+ and there is definitely lag in a lot of things. Multitasking lags like HELL. Switching between some applications can be very laggy and also the spotlight search from any screen lags.

I don't understand why some people here just defend the issue that seems to be so common amongst many other who have upgraded. Just because you don't experience the issue does not mean the issue does not exist and BTW Apple must address this and you can take part by letting them know and not just posting on forums.

I don't understand why some people can't understand that maybe others are not seeing the problem.

Have you done anything to try and fix it? As i suggested above, trying to set the phone up as a new phone rather than an upgrade can help, and has most certainly fixed dodgy upgrades in the past.

A lot of people who aren't having the same issues aren't saying that others aren't having them, they are simply pointing out that the issues aren't necessarily as widespread as some of those with the issues are trying to make them out to be. Basically extremes on both sides with the reality and many others somewhere in-between.

Exactly.

I haven't noticed much speed difference between 8.4.1 and 9.0 on my 6, but i can tell you now the battery life is way, way better - without using low power mode.

I just installed iOS 9 a couple of days ago so iOS 8 performance was still on my mind and as far as I can tell, iOS 9 is just smoother. Safari is also faster but that might be because of content blocking.
Yes, it appears iOS 9 is often worse on older devices. 64-bit are usually okay.

Also I wasn't trying to imply that 9 is worse in all cases, I just relate to the surprise factor from when I downgraded from 8.0 to 7.1.2 last year, I didn't really notice much of a difference until I did.
