What software (especially complex software like an OS) is issue free for everyone in general, let alone in an initial new version release?Who knows, perhaps iOS 10 will actually be a working product on release?

Maybe they managed to mess the animations up because it's now using Metal to render them.Well the very basics should be. Such as the interface being fluent. At a complete loss as to how they can go from perfectly slick to a stuttery mess. The messages app is basically the same thing, so how did they manage to break the animations here?
I'm liking the newsfeed when you swipe right, the back option along the top bar, the keyboard improvements and content blocker is a huge improvement
Is that ironic? Apple will stop signing ios 8.4.1 very soon.Good for you kyemaloy
That's the beauty of choice.
Enjoy iOS 8.4.1.
However you perceive your current iOS choice is a personal user defined experience.
Personally I've not encountered issues on the iPhone 6+ or iPad Air.

My gf sill has iOS 8 on her 5S and its very easy to notice/feel how much smoother it is.
And I've mentioned in a previous thread that my 5S felt perfectly fine. It's not until I could use iOS 8 again before I noticed a difference.
Underlying changes to something can affect other things, including the basics. Aside from the fact that not everyone experiences these issues, at least certainly not to the same degree, the fact that they might be there in a x.0 release is hardly new or surprising. It's not great by any means, but it's simply realistic when it comes to software and complex software in particular.Well the very basics should be. Such as the interface being fluent. For some, certainly, not so much for others. Went back to 8.4.1 for a bit and have another device that is still on 8.4.1 and definitely no "whoa" or anything like that, at best minor differences if any at all in my experience (meaning that certainly that might not be and likely won't be the case for some others).Exactly. Your eyes sort of get used to the lag and it becomes normal to you. Then when you use iOS 8.4.1 again, it's like "WHOA!"

iOS 9 is super smooth for me also. I had a touch of lag straight after install but after a reboot it hasn't returned. Loving the new features so far.

Similar to what it was like with 8.4 compared to 7.1.Pretty soon everyone will forget about 8.4.1 and 9.1 will come out and people will be like "It's just as smooth as 8.4 was!" and everyone will be happy, but they won't really know that 8.4 was still smoother.
Don't get me wrong, I like iOS 9, but I just can't stand how poorly it runs.
Plenty of things that various people find useful.Lool, "new features". Oh yeah new multitasking which does not make any difference. Wohooo apple!!! Its unapologetically revolutionary!!
I have an iPhone 6+ and there is definitely lag in a lot of things. Multitasking lags like HELL. Switching between some applications can be very laggy and also the spotlight search from any screen lags.
I don't understand why some people here just defend the issue that seems to be so common amongst many other who have upgraded. Just because you don't experience the issue does not mean the issue does not exist and BTW Apple must address this and you can take part by letting them know and not just posting on forums.
A lot of people who aren't having the same issues aren't saying that others aren't having them, they are simply pointing out that the issues aren't necessarily as widespread as some of those with the issues are trying to make them out to be. Basically extremes on both sides with the reality and many others somewhere in-between.
I like it and that's all that matters to me.Lool, "new features". Oh yeah new multitasking which does not make any difference. Wohooo apple!!! Its unapologetically revolutionary!!
True, I'm just saying that your experience may not necessarily be how you remember it. (Better or worse)And sometimes they don't actually have issues.
Yes, it appears iOS 9 is often worse on older devices. 64-bit are usually okay.I just installed iOS 9 a couple of days ago so iOS 8 performance was still on my mind and as far as I can tell, iOS 9 is just smoother. Safari is also faster but that might be because of content blocking.
