On one hand, I can see the fun of it

On the other hand, I can see the waste.

IMHO, it's indicative of the current values in our society. As someone already mentioned, why not donate the funds to a good cause? Or donate your times? Or heaven forbid, why not purchase one for someone who cannot afford one?

So many other options available other than smashing one.

Save the video!!!

In a few years send it to their prospective first employer and then see how funny it really is.

Dumb sh*thead kids, it's true what they say that the rich do lots of inbreading, that's what it can do to you evidently...

Dont get why people care so much, its not your money.

Not everyone is selfish and only cares about stunts like this if its their money. The point is, they pretty much did the equivalent of burning $500 when they could have given that to a charity.

The sad part is the dropping and beating doesn't really have an effect, the iPad is a flat device so the movie isn't that funny or spectacular. Apple doesn't care, they just sold another iPad and collected their 500 bucks with a smile. I agree that this money could be better spent but that's their choice.

People run around dropping 500 dollars on bottles of champagne, so I wouldn't get on a high horse about these guys wasting money. When I was living in London, the guys there would drop 100 to 200 quid on a night out at the weekend, just on booze, entry fees to places and food and taxis.

Our whole society is wasteful, the best thing about this video is that it outted a few hypocrits in this thread.

What a sad bunch of little tits, my old Grannie always said there were more out than in, was she ever right.

JFYI, Champagne >>>> Smashing iPads.

What a bunch of ********s, wow.
By the way, was that a Best Buy employee shooting footage with his iPhone? Or just someone with poor dress sense? If it was an employee, he should be fired on the spot. Then his friends can donate him another $500 until he finds a new job, shovelling s**t like he deserves.

Actually they are not only stupid but simply copycats as well.

It was previously done with the iPhone and uTubed as well.

Stupid and lacking originality - poor way to go through life.

I'll bet their dads are so proud to show the video at work and announce "That's my boy!"

Yeah that was a best buy employee. Someone find which store that is and I would call and complain about the vandalous activity of it's employee while on the clock.

Nobody take any offence to this comment but that sums up the youth of today - and Im still technically a youth.

+1 :( Kinda spells out why the US is in the situation it is in.

Come off that high horse you arrogant US hating windbag... If you think the US has some kind of exclusive on kids behaving like idiots you've got another thing coming.

However the people spending $500 on a bottle of wine did in fact drink it right? That was the intended purpose of the product to begin with wasn't it? In the case of people buying $200 bottles of vodka or $500+ bottles of wine or $300 worth of caviar, first class airline tickets, etc... Those are all premium items marketed at people who can afford 'the finer things'. This is NOT the same as what what these kids are doing. In cases above people HAVE the money and don't mind spending it on items they enjoy in a socially acceptable manner.

If you are in some way condemning them for using their money to afford the 'nicer things in live' (and use them as they were intended) thats your right, but clearly we feel differently.

Taking your 'wasteful snobs' argument just ONE step lower.. The same can be argued that people buying NAME BRAND soda and CHIPS and own computers and use the internet are JUST as OFFENSIVE as the people you tried to call out to the people below your means.... It's all a matter of perspective...

No, what these kids are being rightfully called out on is bad behavior. To by a product just to take it to the side of the building and smash it with a aluminum baseball bat is unquestionably BAD behavior ... maybe even DISTURBING behavior. If a psychologist were to analyze the actions of these kids I'm sure he or she could come up with a nice clinical diagnosis.

In short these kids need professional help! Unfortunately, until they take that baseball bat of theirs to the HEAD of some young defenseless kid or a totally defenseless animal they will continue to act in this socially unacceptable way. The parents should be shown this video and if they don't seek out immediate help the kids should be put in special homes where they can be taught how NOT to act like animals.

Contradictory, no clarity, and ridiculous inference that these kids are disturbed.
