Can somebody please confirm if the 4XL also works OK with this new Dymo driver? Thanks

v8.5.2 works great for the 4XL

It does work for the 4XL printer. Mine works great using v8.5.2. Once again, when it says "Running Package Scripts" it takes a while. Maybe 8 to 10 minutes. Just let it run and it will finally finish. According to their website, this works for all Dymo printers on a Mac running Yosemite or an older OS. I hope this helps everyone.

I can also confirm that the 8.5.2 driver works with Yosemite and my 4XL. The installation took 31 minutes on a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with a 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7 and 8GB RAM with not much else happening.

At least it works.

Thanks to those who posted here.

Works here as well on a Dymo Dual printer. :)

Thanks for posting the link to the new release.

BTW: the installation only took a couple of minutes on a cMP.

Dymo printers not working with Yosemite

Download and install DLS 8.5.2.95 from Demo website. My printers stopped crashing after that.

Yosemite driver doesn't cut it for me either

I've been trying different versions of the driver all afternoon. None of them work with my Twin Turbo.

Support gave me the latest 8.5.2 driver. Says supports Yosemite right in the installer, but, like the previous poster, all I get is "The printer is not connected." That what I get since I installed Yosemite

Of course it's connected. Connecting it is what made it appear as an available printer.

Before printing the dot is green and the printer is idle. As soon as I print the dot is yellow and I get the not connected message.

Must be I'm not holding my mouth right.

Of course it's getting late Friday, so I guess I'm screwed until they get back to me next week.

400 Turbo working with Version 8.4.0.1759

I am using Version 8.4.0.1759 on Yosemite, and my old LabelWriter 400 Turbo is working fine, labels and stamps.

I am very reluctant to "upgrade" to the newer version, 8.5.2 since it ain't broke. Anyone using it and a 400 Turbo?

I am using the above linked Version 8.5.2.95 driver with a LabelWriter Twin Turbo under Yosemite with no issues. Before that driver update, mine wouldn't work at all after the Yosemite update. You might give it another try, perhaps deleting the old one first.

Good luck ...

Support gave me a check list of steps to follow. Basically deleting DYMO files, empty the trash, reboot, disconnect USB cable, install driver (they gave me a link), reconnect USB cable, and voila, everything is green and ready to go.

The only issue I have is that error I get when I actually try to print a label "The printer is not connected" and the dot turns yellow.

I tried several earlier versions following their check list. The result is always the same. After spending a whole afternoon messing with it, I gave up. I'll probably try the newest driver again Sunday just for fun.

At this point I'm thinking there's something on my system that's interfering with the driver. I'll check the logs when I install again.

My iMac is a late 2013 model so it's not the age of it.

I hate the thought of having to start buying stamps again.

Is your Dymo hooked directly to the computer, or are you using a USB hub?

I assume you are plugged into a USB 3.0 port. If you happen to have a USB 2.0 hub you might try inserting that between the printer and your computer. I have had devices which would not work on USB 3.0, but worked fine if they were throttled back to USB 2. (My Dymo is connected to a USB 2.0 hub at the moment).

I've always had it plugged into a 2.0 hub. When it didn't work there, I plugged it directly into the computer. Same result.

It's very obvious that the new driver is working for everyone except a few fringe users, which means there's some interference being caused by something else I have installed.

Perhaps when I study the logs, something will show up.

Posting to MacRumors was was that "hope" that someone may have had the same issue as well and already found the solution. Who knows, maybe I'll end up being that guy.

Won't work for me

Couldn't get this to work with Mavericks either, nor on Yosemite now that I've upgraded. Tried the earlier 8.3.1.1533 as well as the newest 8.5.2. I get a "The printer is not connected" error, and the queue shows "The printer is offline" when I try to print each doc. I tried plugging directly into my Macbook Pro and bypassing the USB hub but have the exact same error. So frustrating!

Well, I afraid I'm not that guy. Absolutely nothing showed up in the Console.

Here are my queue shots:

Crazy time

What the heck is going on????

I transferred the printer to my wife's iMac that's still running Maverick. For that I installed the 8.4 driver to be on the safe side.

Sure as potty stinks, I tried to print a label on her computer and got the exact same error:
The printer is not connected

Now something is really nuts here. I changed the USB cable, just to see. Nope.

Her computer software is nothing like mine, and it's an older iMac.

It's almost as if trying to print on Yosemite blew up my printer. Worked before Yosemite, now it doesn't work no matter which computer it's connected to.

Guess I'll go to the Post Office tomorrow. Got to get mail out.

Just curious, does anyone else make label printers? That actually work?

Here are the directions I got from Dymo. Although I didn't need to uninstall everything, I have previously (maybe with the Snow Leopard upgrade?) had to uninstall everything and reinstall things related to the Dymo printers in order to get it to work.

Dymo Customer Support said:
Thank you for choosing Dymo. Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest quality and service. My name is Christopher and I will be glad to assist you today. I am sorry that you’re experiencing issues with the DYMO Label Software. For solutions on correcting this problem, please follow the steps below:

I recommend conducting a CLEAN uninstall and reinstall of the DYMO Label Software. Please view the following steps:

To download and install DLS on your Mac, please follow the steps below:
1. Ensure that your LabelWriter is unplugged from the USB and delete (if there are any) installed DYMO LabelWriter printer(s). You can do this by going to System Preferences > Hardware > Print & Scan or Print & Fax. Then, select the Dymo LabelWriter and click the minus sign (-) to delete the printer.
2. Uninstall any installed DYMO Label Software from your Mac, except label files and address books, by dragging the DYMO folder from the Applications folder into the trash.
3. Also, please check the following locations for any DYMO files and remove those DYMO files by dragging them to the trash:
Browse to Macintosh HD> Library> Frameworks> DYMO, and delete that DYMO folder.
Browse to Macintosh HD> Library> Printers> DYMO, and delete that DYMO folder.
4. After these files and folders have been removed, empty the trash and restart the Mac.
5. Please click on the following link to Run and Install the DYMO software, version 8.5.2 to solve the issue with printing from Yosemite. This link is temporary and will expire: (link removed, you may download the software from their support page)
Note: The LabelWriter must be DISCONNECTED when running the installation.
6. In the Conclusion Section, plug LabelWriter into a USB port that is located directly on the Mac computer.
Note: Please keep an eye out when you get to that ‘Conclusion’ section
7. Next, click continue and it should say "Installed successfully"
8. Once it has been successfully installed, look for the DYMO Printer under the Print List located in ‘Print & Scan’ or Print & Fax’, from System Preferences.
9. Make sure that the printer is showing up here, and has a green status that says "idle". Once that has been verified you should now be able to launch the software from Applications and successfully print.

Yup, same list I got, except mine had a link to the newest driver.

Also, I didn't have to do any "uninstalling" on my wife's computer since DYMO has never been on it. Yet I get the same error.

The only common thing between the two setups is the printer itself, and the fact both computers are Macs. I don't have any Windows machines.

Of course I noticed WMorton above couldn't get it to work on Maverick, too. I had no issues on Maverick until I tried my wife's computer.

Well, I guess it's time to get a new printer. Mine is just too old. It's a Twin Turbo model 93085, that's a model earlier than the 400.

Here's the reply I got from support:

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
What model LabelWriter are you printing from? Only the 450 and 400 series are supported with printing from Yosemite. If you are printing using anything other than those two series the error you are receiving could be coming from the incompatibility with Yosemite printing.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Of course this doesn't explain why it wouldn't work on my wife's Maverick machine. Anyway, I'm getting a 450 from Staples for $130. About $130 more than I wanted to pay since I already had a perfect good, functioning printer, but that's the price of being on the bleeding edge I guess.

If it doesn't work still, at least I can return it.

My first reaction to this is to scream and bash my Dymo Twin Turbo with a hammer. I have the exact same model (93085) and battled the install / uninstall printer approach and earlier versions of the software to no avail. Thanks for the official update from Dymo.

Why in the hell can it not be supported? It's a thermal printer! Why force customers to buy newer models when there is no huge difference between this and the 400 / 450 series.

Arrgghhhhhh. :mad::mad::mad:

I'm not going to buy another.

I had the same thought, too, not buying another one. However, I have several postage stamp roles, which aren't cheap. I still have money with Endicia, plus I like using the printer.

So yeah, it's very annoying. It's not the first time I've upgraded technology just for the sake of having the latest & greatest. A printer is pretty mundane technology, but, it does at some point get upgraded.

Heck, now-a-days buying a laser printer is almost a throw-away item when the toner runs out. The darn toner cartridges cost damn near as much as a whole new printer.

I'll get over it probably in about, oh, about 2 hours. Well, maybe 10 minutes.
